Role Description The Senior Merchandise Planner is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu. This role is responsible for developing merchandise plans, forecasting demand, and optimizing inventory levels across product categories to support sales and profitability targets. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing sales trends and customer behavior, preparing seasonal and in-season plans, and collaborating with buying, merchandising, and retail teams to align assortment and stock allocation with business objectives. The Senior Merchandise Planner monitors key performance indicators, identifies risks and opportunities, and recommends actions to maximize margins and minimize overstock or stockouts. The role also involves preparing reports and presentations for management, supporting budgeting processes, and contributing to continuous improvement of planning tools and processes.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret sales data, identify trends, and support strategic planning.
  • Candidates should possess Demand Planning capabilities to forecast sales, plan assortments, and manage replenishment cycles.
  • Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present insights clearly.
  • Candidates should possess Inventory Management skills to balance stock levels, control aging inventory, and optimize product availability.
  • Candidates should possess an understanding of Sales drivers and retail KPIs to align merchandise plans with revenue and margin goals.
  • Relevant experience in merchandise planning, retail, fashion, or footwear sectors, preferably at a senior or lead level.
  • Proficiency in Excel and planning or ERP tools, with comfort working with large data sets and reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Retail Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ability to work on-site in Kathmandu, with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail.
