Job Description

Shankar Associates, Chartered Accountants (SACA) is looking for Junior Client Accountant to join our dynamic team in our Nepal-based Audit, Tax and Consulting wing. We are an audit, tax, and consulting firm affiliated with one of the Top 20 Accounting Alliances, based in Kathmandu, Nepal. 


Duties and responsibilities  

Financial Accounting & Operations  

  • Maintain accurate accounting records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash/bank transactions.  
  • Prepare and record journal entries, adjustments, accruals, and provisions.  
  • Perform bank, vendor, customer, and other account reconciliations.  
  • Manage invoices, payment processing, collections, and vendor settlements.  
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.  
  • Maintain proper supporting documents and accounting records for assigned clients.  
  • Manage and maintain fixed asset records.  


Taxation & Statutory Compliance  

  • Prepare and submit VAT, TDS, and other applicable tax returns on time. 
  • Calculate, record, reconcile, and process TDS payments, ensuring correct tax rates. 
  • Prepare and review VAT calculations, invoices, and reconciliations. 
  • Assist with income tax computations, tax clearance, and other tax compliance. 
  • Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documents for audits and compliance. 
  • Coordinate with clients and authorities on tax and statutory matters. 


Payroll & Salary Management  

  • Prepare and process monthly payroll, including salaries, allowances, deductions, and adjustments. 
  • Calculate and process salary TDS, SSF contributions, and other statutory deductions. 
  • Prepare payroll reports, salary sheets, and supporting schedules. 
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure timely submission of payroll-related statutory filings. 


Financial Reporting & Analysis  

  • Prepare basic Management Information System (MIS) reports and other periodic management reports as required.  
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.  
  • Prepare account schedules, reconciliations, and working papers.  
  • Assist with budgeting, cash-flow monitoring, and variance analysis.  
  • Review financial information for discrepancies and accounting issues.  
  • Provide financial insights to clients and supervisors.  


Client Coordination & Team Support 

  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding accounting, taxation, payroll, and compliance matters, and provide timely support for their queries. 
  • Obtain required financial documents and information from clients and ensure timely completion of reporting and compliance requirements. 
  • Review the work of junior accountants, provide technical guidance, and support the resolution of accounting and compliance-related issues. 
  • Assist in training and developing team members on accounting, taxation, payroll, and compliance procedures. 
  • Allocate and monitor team tasks to ensure timely completion, while recommending improvements to clients’ accounting and financial processes where appropriate. 


Accounting Software & Systems  

  • Use accounting software such as Tally, or other client-specific accounting systems.  
  • Maintain the accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of financial information.  
  • Ensure accounting records and supporting documents are properly maintained in digital and physical systems.  


Coordination & Administrative Support  

  • Prepare internal memos and finance-related correspondence as required. 
  • Coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure timely completion of accounting, reporting, tax, and compliance activities.  
  • Maintain proper documentation and records related to assigned client accounts.  
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor based on client requirements. 


Qualification & Experience  

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related field. Master's degree running or completed will be an added advantage.  
  • 1-2 year of experience in the related field  
  • Practical experience in TDS, VAT, payroll, salary accounting, SSF, and statutory compliance is preferred.  


Skills and Competencies  

  • Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and bookkeeping, with practical knowledge of TDS, VAT, payroll, salary taxation, SSF, and statutory compliance. 
  • Working knowledge of Tally or other accounting software, with adaptability to system changes as required. 
  • Strong analytical, numerical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. 
  • Good communication, client-handling, organizational, and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting deadlines. 
  • Proactive, responsible, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
