About this role/ Role Overview

The Mid-Level QA Engineer is responsible for independently testing software, primarily websites and web-based solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.

The role works closely with developers, Technical Leads, Project Managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements, identify quality risks, execute testing and support reliable releases.

The successful candidate will have strong manual testing skills together with practical experience in API testing and SQL. Test automation experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify gaps and testing risks.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, responsive, and cross-browser testing.
• Support User Acceptance Testing and validate reported issues and fixes.
• Test CMS functionality, APIs and third-party integrations where applicable.
• Use SQL for data validation and defect investigation.
• Document, prioritise and track defects through resolution.
• Verify bug fixes and perform regression and smoke testing.
• Collaborate with developers and project stakeholders to ensure appropriate test coverage.
• Participate in test automation initiatives where appropriate.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and practices.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 3+ years of software QA/testing experience.
• Strong experience testing websites, web applications and responsive websites.
• Strong manual, functional, exploratory and regression testing skills.
• Experience creating structured test plans, test cases and test scenarios.
• Experience performing responsive and cross-browser testing.
• Hands-on API testing experience using tools such as Postman or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and defect investigation.
• Basic understanding of test automation concepts and when automation should be applied.
• Experience using Jira or similar defect management tools.
• Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify edge cases and quality risks.

Desirable

• Experience testing CMS platforms such as Storyblok or Kentico
• Practical automation experience using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or equivalent.
• Accessibility/WCAG testing experience.
• CI/CD and Git knowledge.
• Experience testing third-party integrations.

Mid-Level Expectations

The QA Engineer should be able to independently manage testing for assigned website features or small-to-medium website projects, identify requirements gaps and quality risks early, and provide clear recommendations on release readiness.

The QA Engineer should be able to plan and execute testing with limited day-to-day supervision, communicate defects and blockers clearly, and work collaboratively with developers and project stakeholders.
