Role Description The Chef De Partie will be responsible for managing a specific kitchen section, preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, and ensuring consistency in taste and presentation. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing mise en place, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, coordinating with other kitchen staff, and supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef during service. The role involves monitoring stock levels, minimizing food waste, and contributing to menu development, especially for Chinese cuisine and related offerings. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu, requiring a hands-on presence in the kitchen and collaboration with the broader hotel team.
Qualifications
  • Strong skills in hot and cold kitchen preparation, cooking techniques, and plating, with experience as a Chef De Partie or Demi Chef in a hotel or restaurant.
  • Knowledge of Chinese cuisine and Asian flavors, with the ability to follow and improve recipes while maintaining authenticity and consistency.
  • Proficiency in kitchen hygiene, food safety standards, and proper handling, storage, and rotation of ingredients.
  • Ability to supervise junior kitchen staff, coordinate with chefs across sections, and work effectively under pressure during peak service.
  • Good time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills to manage mise en place and multiple orders simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Formal culinary training or certification from a recognized institution is preferred; prior experience in hotel kitchens is an advantage.
  • Basic communication skills in English; knowledge of Nepali and/or Mandarin is a plus.
