Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and control packing machine operations as per approved SOPs and operating parameters.
- Ensure maximum practical machine output and efficient utilization of packing capacity.
- Monitor machine speed, production output, downtime, rejection, wastage and OEE-related parameters.
- Identify and resolve causes of reduced machine output and recurring downtime.
- Plan and execute SKU/pack-size changeovers within defined standard time.
- Ensure availability of packing materials, coding details, tools, machine parts and manpower before changeovers.
- Coordinate with Production, QA/QC, Maintenance, Warehouse and Planning teams to ensure smooth packing operations.
- Ensure effective line clearance, cleaning and proper machine settings during every changeover.
- Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly and scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
- Conduct routine inspection of critical machine components and immediately report abnormalities.
- Respond to machine breakdowns and work with the Maintenance team to minimize production losses.
- Allocate manpower effectively and supervise operators/helpers to ensure productivity and discipline.
- Train operators on machine operation, changeover, cleaning, basic troubleshooting and safety procedures.
- Ensure correct pack size, sealing, coding, printing, registration and packaging integrity.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety and workplace safety standards.
- Control product breakage, rejected packs, sealing losses and packaging-material wastage.
- Monitor material consumption against standard consumption and take corrective action on abnormal wastage.
- Ensure achievement of daily production plans through effective coordination with relevant departments.
- Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, breakdowns, changeovers, wastage and machine inspections.
- Ensure machine guards, emergency stops and other safety devices remain functional.
- Maintain 5S, housekeeping, hygiene and workplace discipline within the packing area.
- Recommend process improvements, maintenance requirements, spare parts and operator training where necessary.
Job Specification
- Minimum Diploma / Technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Production or a related field.
- Technical qualification in a relevant engineering discipline will be an advantage.
- 10–15 years of relevant experience in packing/production operations.
- Experience in biscuit, FMCG, food processing or similar manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with automatic packing machines and changeover operations.
- Proven experience in supervising and managing production/packing teams.
