Head of Production

Job Description

Brilliant Lighting Industries is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Head of Production to lead our manufacturing operations at our Bhairahawa plant.

This is a key leadership position for someone who can take complete ownership of production performance, productivity, quality, manpower, capacity utilization and manufacturing efficiency.

We are looking for a hands-on manufacturing leader who can build strong systems, develop teams and create a highly disciplined, scalable production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Lead day-to-day production activities across the plant and ensure monthly and daily production targets are achieved.
• Plan and optimize manpower, production lines, machines and shift schedules.
• Monitor production output, productivity, downtime and line efficiency.
• Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks.
• Ensure production is completed according to approved schedules and specifications.

Planning & Coordination

• Work closely with PPIC, Procurement, Stores, Quality, Maintenance and Sales to ensure smooth production flow.
• Ensure adequate availability of raw materials and components for planned production.
• Improve production planning and schedule adherence.
• Coordinate capacity planning as production volumes increase.

Productivity & Cost Control

• Drive improvements in labour productivity, machine utilization and OEE.
• Reduce rejection, rework, material wastage, downtime and overtime.
• Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and line balancing.
• Continuously work towards reducing manufacturing cost per unit.

Quality

• Ensure strict adherence to approved BOMs, SOPs and manufacturing processes.
• Work closely with the Quality team to reduce defects and improve First Pass Yield.
• Establish root-cause analysis and corrective action for recurring production issues.
• Maintain consistent product quality across production lines.

People Leadership

• Lead and develop Production Supervisors, Line Leaders, Operators and support teams.
• Establish clear productivity and performance standards.
• Build a culture of accountability, discipline, safety and continuous improvement.
• Identify training and skill-development requirements for the production team.

Systems & Continuous Improvement

• Implement 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, SOPs and standardized work practices.
• Establish strong daily production reporting and KPI monitoring.
• Ensure accurate production transactions and inventory consumption in ERP.
• Develop dashboards and reporting systems to track plant performance.

What We’re Looking For

• 8–15 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 3–5 years in a production leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production Engineering or a related field preferred.
• Experience in LED Lighting, Electronics, Electrical Products, Consumer Durables or high-volume assembly manufacturing will be strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of PPC/PPIC, OEE, Lean Manufacturing, Line Balancing, Quality Control and Production Planning.
• Strong people-management and problem-solving capabilities.
• Comfortable working hands-on with production teams and spending significant time on the factory floor.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• High ownership, discipline and execution orientation.
