Job Description
Location: Upaya Head Office, Thapagau, Kathmandu

We're looking for a Product Engineering Lead to own the day-to-day of how our products actually get built and run, across all our projects. You'll be the person developers, QA, and DevOps come to when something needs a decision, and the person accountable for making sure what ships doesn't just work technically, but actually solves the problem for our users, and holds up at scale.

This is a high-trust, high-ownership role, backed by full support from leadership.

What You'll Own

  • Day-to-day decision-making. Be the first point of contact across projects for product and technical calls, trusted to move things forward without waiting on leadership for every call.
  • Outcome ownership. Features you sign off on should be functionally correct, genuinely useful to end users, high quality, and built to scale, not just "done"
  • Cross-team guidance. Support and unblock developers, QA, and DevOps daily. Resolve technical disagreements, clarify priorities, keep work moving
  • Product judgment. Understand our users deeply enough to make sound calls on what's worth building and how, not just manage a backlog
  • Issue response. Be the point person when something breaks or comes up unexpectedly, coordinating the right people and driving it to resolution
  • Quality and scalability standards. Set and hold the bar for what "good" looks like across all projects, not just your own

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of overall experience: minimum 4 years as a software engineer, minimum 2 years in a team lead or leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset. You've been accountable for outcomes, not just tasks, before
  • Strong technical judgment across the stack (web, mobile, or infra), enough to guide teams.
  • Product sense: you can reason about what users actually need, not just what's requested
  • Comfortable making decisions independently and being accountable for them
  • Open-minded and humble, someone who creates space for team members to speak up, disagree, and be heard, not just directs
  • Experience working on products with real operational stakes (marketplace, logistics, fintech, or similar) is a strong plus
