Job Description  

TaxMD is a tax-planning SaaS platform for individual taxpayers and tax professionals, offering AI-powered features, including an in-app assistant and automated data extraction. We seek a detail-oriented QA Engineer to ensure the quality, accuracy, and reliability of our web application, calculation logic, and AI-driven features. You will test core workflows, calculation accuracy, and AI outputs, collaborating with development and product teams in an Agile environment that prioritizes correctness and data integrity. 

Job Responsibilities 

• Design, write, and execute manual and automated test cases based on business and technical requirements, with priority on core workflows. 
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and cross-browser testing across the web application. 
• Test the accuracy of financial/tax calculations and validate edge cases against expected results. 
• Test AI-powered features, such as the in-app assistant and automated data extraction, for accuracy and reliability. Flag incorrect, unsafe, or hallucinated outputs and verify guardrails. 
• Test authentication and account flows (sign-up, verification, password reset, session handling). 
• Build and maintain automated tests for the web UI (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium) and APIs (Postman or similar). 
• Use AI-assisted tools to speed up test case generation, test data creation, and test maintenance. 
• Identify, document, and track defects in Jira; maintain test documentation in Confluence. 
• Review requirements and acceptance criteria early to embed quality throughout development. 
• Support integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. 
• Contribute to continuously improving QA processes and standards. 

Professional Skills / Requirements 

• 3+ years of experience in software testing (manual and automation). 
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies, SDLC, and STLC. 
• Hands-on experience with a test automation tool (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium). 
• Scripting ability in Python and/or JavaScript. 
• Experience with API testing (Postman or similar). 
• Familiarity with Jira/Confluence and Agile workflows. 
• Comfort using AI/LLM-based tools to support day-to-day testing work. 
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 

Preferred (Nice to Have) 

• Experience testing AI/LLM-based features, evaluating model outputs, or prompt and guardrail testing. 
• Experience testing fintech, accounting, banking, or other data-sensitive products. 
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud (AWS) hosted applications. 
• Understanding security and data privacy best practices. 
• ISTQB certification or equivalent.
