Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer with experience working with US healthcare data to design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines and workflows. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in SQL, along with experience using Python and preferably DBT to transform and manage data efficiently. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on day-to-day development, data quality, and process optimization.


Job Description:

As a Data Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data models using SQL to support US healthcare data analytics.
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting SQL queries and ensuring efficient database performance.
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines and queries that support HEDIS quality measure reporting and analytics.
  • Working with risk adjustment (HCC/RAF) data to support accurate risk scoring and compliance reporting.
  • Transforming raw claims and clinical data into reliable, audit-ready outputs for quality and risk-based reporting.
  • Collaborating with analysts and US healthcare stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency across HEDIS and risk adjustment deliverables.
  • Developing Python-based ETL pipelines to streamline data extraction, transformation, and loading processes for healthcare data.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Developing fast, reliable, and large-scale data processing pipelines to ingest data from multiple sources into an enterprise data warehouse and data lake.
  • Implementing ETL processes to extract, transform, and load healthcare data from various sources using Apache Airflow.
  • Ensuring data integrity and accuracy by working closely with data analysts and stakeholders.
  • Documenting data models, processes, and transformations.
  • Staying up to date with healthcare industry standards and best practices for data engineering.
  • Identifying and resolving data-related issues and system malfunctions.
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders.


Job Specification:

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience working with US healthcare data, with a focus on SQL. Knowledge of DBT is a plus.
  • SQL Skills: Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex queries, performance optimization, and familiarity with various databases.
  • Programming: Strong experience in Python for building ETL pipelines, including data extraction from APIs or databases, data transformation, and loading into target systems.
  • ETL: Experience in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Data Modeling: Proven ability to design and implement efficient and scalable data models.
  • Troubleshooting: Experience diagnosing and resolving data-related issues.
  • Analytics: Strong analytical skills for working with structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of HEDIS and Risk is very beneficial for this role.
  • Experience with PowerBI
  • Knowledge of Apache AIrflow is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CMS Data Code Sets (ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS, NDC, Taxonomy)
  • Experience with Snowflake
