Role Overview
The KUMON- Primary Maths Teacher is a frontline champion of the KUMON Method, responsible for ensuring the consistent and high-quality delivery of the in-school KUMON program. Working across multiple partner schools, you will train and support teachers, monitor student progress, assess worksheets, and introduce creative solutions that drive measurable improvements in learning outcomes. This is a dynamic, school-facing role suited for someone deeply passionate about education, child development, and the transformative power of structured, self-paced learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teacher Training & Instructional Support
- Train and mentor assigned KUMON class teachers on the correct application of the KUMON Method, including worksheet progression, student pacing, and time management.
- Conduct regular on-site and group training sessions to strengthen teachers’ understanding of KUMON’s philosophy and pedagogical approach.
- Guide teachers on how to identify and handle student challenges constructively, maintaining a supportive and encouraging classroom environment.
- Model best practices for creating interactive, engaging, and KUMON-aligned classroom sessions.
- Provide ongoing coaching and actionable feedback to help teachers continuously improve their delivery of the program.
Student Progress Monitoring & Engagement
- Observe and evaluate student behavior, attitude, and progress during KUMON sessions to identify patterns in learning and engagement.
- Motivate students by acknowledging milestones, celebrating achievements, and setting personalized targets in line with KUMON progression standards.
- Proactively identify struggling students and collaborate with teachers to implement timely, tailored support strategies.
- Introduce and facilitate engaging learning activities—including math games, timed challenges, peer competitions, and recognition events—to sustain motivation and enthusiasm for the program.
Classroom & Program Quality Assurance
- Conduct structured school visits to observe KUMON sessions, evaluate program delivery, and verify adherence to KUMON methodology and standards.
- Assess classroom environments for proper worksheet handling, student seating, time recording, and overall session flow.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to teachers and, where appropriate, school management, to support continuous program improvement.
- Flag and escalate any recurring classroom issues or deviations from KUMON standards to the KUMON Nepal coordination team.
Worksheet Correction & Academic Assessment
- Take full ownership of the correction of KUMON student worksheets for each assigned school, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely turnaround.
- Manage your correction schedule proactively to maintain a balanced workload across multiple school assignments.
- Evaluate student worksheet performance to track progression levels, identify errors, and understand individual learning needs.
- Analyze performance trends across students and schools to pinpoint systemic gaps and recommend appropriate level adjustments or interventions.
- Conduct periodic case studies on individual students to better understand root causes of recurring mistakes and learning blocks.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement creative strategies to deepen student engagement with math and strengthen their connection to the KUMON program.
- Introduce new tools, classroom formats, or supplementary activities that complement the KUMON Method and keep learning dynamic.
- Actively contribute ideas and feedback to the broader KUMON Nepal team to support program-wide improvements and innovation.
- Stay current on effective math education practices and explore how they can be thoughtfully integrated within the KUMON framework.
School Coordination & Relationship Management
- Conduct frequent school visits during the initial setup and onboarding phase of the KUMON program to establish strong operational foundations.
- Maintain a regular rotation schedule across all assigned schools to ensure consistent support, visibility, and quality assurance.
- Build trusted, collaborative relationships with school coordinators, teachers, and students to create a positive KUMON community within each school.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned schools on day-to-day program matters, escalating strategic concerns to the KUMON Nepal team as needed.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Measurable improvement in student KUMON level progression and worksheet accuracy over time.
- Consistent positive feedback from partner school teachers, coordinators, and school management.
- Timely, accurate correction of all student worksheets across assigned schools.
- Successful design and execution of at least one classroom engagement initiative per school per term.
- Adherence to school visit schedules and submission of structured visit reports.
A designated KPI Sheet will be provided to each Math Mentor for ongoing performance tracking and reference.
