Job Description
Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO) is a pioneering organization in Nepal advocating simultaneously for Dalit and women’s rights. FEDO envisions a just and equitable society and places Dalit women and girls at the center of all its initiatives. The organization is committed to promoting economic empowerment, human rights and access to justice, leadership development, inclusive governance and social justice, as well as gender-responsive humanitarian assistance for Dalits, women, and other marginalized communities in Nepal.
FEDO has expanded its organizational presence across all 77 districts and seven provinces of Nepal. The organization has also been actively collaborating with national and international networks and platforms working for the rights of women and Dalits. Currently, FEDO, in partnership with the Foundation for a Just Society (FJS), is implementing the project titled “Promoting Feminist Leadership for the Human Rights and Justice of Dalit Women and Girls in Nepal (Leadership Development Project).
In this context, FEDO is seeking qualified, competent, creative, committed, and highly motivated candidates for the following positions to support the implementation of the continuation project, “Promoting Feminist Leadership for the Human Rights and Justice of Dalit Women and Girls in Nepal (Leadership Development Project),” at the provincial and local levels. Therefore, FEDO invites applications from eligible Nepali citizens in the position of District Project Coordinator.

Overall Purpose of the Position:
The District Project Coordinator shall be responsible for overall leadership and management of programs and administration of project. S/he shall lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of all activities of the project and organization at Local and Province level. S/he shall ensure all quality assurance of project activity implementation and reporting.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
The major responsibility of District Project Coordinator is to coordinate with government, formal and informal justice actors and other like-minded organizations and individuals to implement the project activities in respective Province and its’ districts towards achieving the results. The following are the other task of position;
Support planning and implementation of project activities related to mobilize community people especially Dalit women, girls and people from other excluded groups and strengthen their capacity to promote and protect the human rights of Dalit women at the local level in project district and province.
Coordinate with local and provincial government, human rights institutions, justice actors, political parties and civil society organizations accountable and responsive to increase the access to social justice and socio-economic rights for Dalit women and girls.
Prepare budget plan and track expenditures/transactions in the coordination and consultation with National Project Coordinator, Senior Finance Officer and Executive Director.
Supervise Project Assistants and provide them technical guidance to mobilize Dalit women groups, Dalit women frontline leaders as well as community people.
Support to establish justice support mechanism through groups and frontline leaders at the local level and function it to handle and manage the cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and caste-based discrimination and untouchability (CBDU) in terms of increasing the access to justice of Dalit women.
Schedule and organize meetings/ events, prepare paperwork and other required task in advocacy efforts for strengthening the human rights of Dalit women.
Keep updated cases of violence and discrimination, and prepare evidence-based report.
Minimum Requirements:
Completed Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, management, development studies (or equivalent) with at least three (3) years working experience non-profit organization.
The working experience in Dalit and marginalized women led or women rights organizations will be added value.
Knowledge and skills needed:
Experience in human rights, advocacy and dealing with advocacy forums/networking for promoting and protecting the human rights of Dalit women, girls and other excluded groups.
At least three years’ experience in implementation and providing skillful knowledge on law and policies, strengthening capacities of frontline leaders and advocates.
Experience in conducting trainings for community legal empowerment, entrepreneurship development, women rights and advocacy campaigns.
Good understanding of the human right situation, socio-economic, private sector engagement, legal and political context of Nepal, Dalit women and girl’s movement and current debates and issues.
Competent in computer skills, esp. Microsoft Office Package, excel and sound knowledge in financial and administrative work.
Fluent spoken and written in Nepali and English.
Documentation and report writing skills in English and Nepali is a must.
