Job Description
About the roleThemeGrill builds WordPress themes and plugins used by people all over the world. Our products are good. What we want now is someone who can show them — clearly, confidently, and on camera.
We're looking for a video presenter who is also a content planner: someone who learns how our products actually work, decides what's worth making a video about, and then stands in front of the camera / screen and makes it make sense to a real WordPress user.
You won't be handed a script and a schedule. You'll build them. We have an editor, so post-production isn't yours to worry about — the thinking and the presenting are.
What you'll do- Learn our products properly — install them, break them, use them the way a customer would
- Plan the content calendar for our YouTube channel: tutorials, feature walkthroughs, comparisons, how-tos, product launches
- Write your own outlines and scripts
- Present on camera and screen recordings in English, in a way that's easy to follow and pleasant to watch
- Work with our video editor to get from raw footage to a published video
- Watch how videos perform and use that to decide what to make next
Here's the kind of thing we make today:
- https://youtu.be/JuFLg92Fibw
We want someone who can take this further.
What we're looking for- Excellent spoken English — clear, natural, and comfortable to listen to for ten minutes straight
- Genuine on-camera presence — you don't freeze, and you don't perform. You explain.
- The ability to plan your own work — you decide what to make, in what order, and why
- Self-direction. This matters more than anything else on this list. We want someone who wants to be led, not someone who waits to be led — and who, in a quiet week, picks up something new instead of waiting for a task.
- Comfort with software, screen recording, and explaining technical things simply
- Prior experience with WordPress — as a user, freelancer, developer, agency person, or content creator. Even solid familiarity counts for a lot here.
- Existing on-camera work we can watch: YouTube, courses, tutorials, webinars, training videos
- A sense for what makes a tutorial actually useful rather than just complete
We're based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and we'd prefer to have you in the office with us. That said, we'd rather hire the right person remotely than the wrong person nearby — so if you're remote and excellent, apply.
How to applyApply through https://themegrill.com/careers/video-creator/
- Please include links to any on-camera work you've done. If you've never been filmed professionally but you have something — a personal channel, a recorded talk, a college presentation — send that. We care about how you come across, not how it was produced.
