About The Role

Our Client is looking for an experienced and results-driven Assistant Production Manager to oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, production planning, team management, quality, safety, hygiene, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in the paints, coatings, chemical, or FMCG industry, with strong knowledge of production processes, GMP, ISO standards, HSE, ERP/SAP systems, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor, and achieve monthly production targets while ensuring efficient production flow.
  • Lead daily and weekly production meetings, shift handovers, toolbox talks, and follow-up on action items.
  • Guide and supervise Production Supervisors, Operators, and production teams in daily operations.
  • Monitor production performance, productivity, yields, batch costing, and other operational KPIs.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Ensure batch assembly, processing, and packing are carried out according to approved standards and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP/GHP, plant hygiene, 5S, and sustainability requirements across production and utility areas.
  • Lead equipment cleaning, hygiene verification, Bio Wash, and Bare Metal Cleaning programs as per established standards.
  • Conduct regular housekeeping, GMP, hygiene, and process audits and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Ensure all production testing, process audits, documentation, and record-keeping are completed as required.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, formats, and other controlled production documents.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GMP, and applicable legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain continuous audit readiness.
  • Manage production incidents through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective implementation of safety policies, PPE requirements, risk controls, and HSE practices.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering/Maintenance, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and EHS teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Manage manpower planning, attendance, overtime, shift coverage, and man-day calculations.
  • Identify training needs and conduct coaching, training, and competency development programs for production employees.
  • Handle employee relations and industrial relations issues effectively and ensure timely escalation and resolution.
  • Provide manpower and operational support during employee leave, holidays, absenteeism, and shift requirements.
  • Ensure effective utilization and functioning of SAP/ERP systems and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for system-related requirements and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and verify monthly production reports and operational performance reports.
  • Drive operator engagement initiatives to improve productivity, safety, quality awareness, teamwork, and employee morale.
  • Facilitate effective communication between shifts and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in paints, coatings, chemicals, FMCG, or a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, process control, quality management, safety management, and resource management.
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Knowledge of GMP/GHP, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, RCA, and CAPA.
  • Experience in manpower planning, shift management, and production team supervision.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems; SAP knowledge will be an advantage.
  • Strong MS Excel, data analysis, documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Good understanding of HSE regulations and chemical/manufacturing safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
