Job Description

We're looking for 2–3 interns to join Samman Publishing House in Kathmandu for a three-month internship.

If you've ever wondered what actually happens between someone finishing a manuscript and seeing their book sitting on a bookstore shelf, this is your chance to find out by actually doing the work.

Over the three months, you will work with us on at least two real publications. You'll participate in the publishing process from the inside: editorial, book design, typesetting, print preparation, marketing, content, launches, events, distribution and all the small decisions that turn a manuscript into an actual book.

By the end of the internship, we expect you to have worked on real publication layouts. For that you are expected to learn Adobe Indesign and be able to design books using it.

Beyond that, we're especially looking for people who are interested in the wider creative world around books.

You might find yourself:

• Designing and typesetting books

• Creating graphics and campaigns for social media

• Shooting, editing or producing Reels and video content

• Appearing in content yourself, if you're comfortable on camera

• Helping turn books, authors and ideas into interesting digital stories

• Working with our editor on real publishing projects

• Helping organize book launches, literary events and other SPH events

• Coordinating the hundreds of small things that need to happen before an event actually works

• Visiting printers, bookstores and other parts of the publishing ecosystem

• Following a publication from manuscript all the way to market

Some interns may become particularly good at one part of this. Others may discover that they're excellent at working end-to-end. Both are valuable to us.

We move quickly. You'll be trusted with real work, real deadlines and real publications.

This probably isn't the right internship if you're looking for something passive to add to your CV.

But if you like making things, learning quickly, solving problems and being around books, design, media and creative people, you can learn an unusual amount in three months here.

We're particularly interested in people who are naturally drawn to content creation.

You don't have to want to become an influencer or spend your life in front of a camera. You could love shooting, editing, producing, scripting, designing, or being the person on camera.

What matters is that you understand that publishing in 2026 isn't only about making a good book.

It's also about knowing how to present it, talk about it, create a moment around it and get people to care about it.

What we're like

Samman Publishing House isn't a very traditional publishing house. We're young, fast-moving and fairly experimental about how books should be made and marketed. We use technology aggressively. We try things. We make content. We organize events. We work closely with authors. And we care a lot about producing books we're genuinely proud to put our name on.

You'll work closely with the people actually making those decisions, not several layers away from them.

And after three months?

The internship ends after three months.

But for interns who become exceptionally good, fit the way we work and want to continue building with us, there will be an opportunity to join Samman Publishing House full-time.

Duration: 3 months

Location: Kathmandu

Openings: 2–3

Core requirement: Willingness to learn and be creative.

What you'll work on: At least 2 real publications + content + publishing events

We're less interested in whether you've already had the perfect internship.

We're more interested in whether you're curious, creative, reliable and unusually willing to make things happen.

Next step:

Send us your CV.

And if you've made anything, a poster, video, magazine, publication, Instagram page, short film, illustration, design project, college event, YouTube video, zine, anything: show us.

We'd much rather see something you've made than read five paragraphs about how passionate you are.
