Role Overview
The Math Catalyst plays a vital role in delivering Embark UnMath’s mission. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about mathematics and equally passionate about inspiring young learners. As a Math Catalyst, you will facilitate math sessions, guide students through inquiry-based learning, and ensure that each learning experience is joyful, meaningful, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging math sessions aligned with the Embark UnMath curriculum and philosophy.
- Inspire curiosity and encourage students to explore mathematical ideas through hands-on activities, discussions, and real-world connections.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for students of diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Support conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization by using experiential learning techniques.
- Collaborate with the Academic Team to continuously refine and improve learning modules.
- Track student progress, provide constructive feedback, and share observations with the team or school partners.
- Participate in training, workshops, and team meetings to align with Embark UnMath’s teaching standards and learning methodology.
- Assist in organizing math events, camps, and showcases as needed.
- Represent Embark UnMath’s values and uphold its commitment to high-quality math education.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Master's preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong foundation and love for mathematics.
- Previous teaching, facilitation, or mentoring experience (formal or informal) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children.
- Ability to think creatively and present mathematical concepts in engaging ways.
- Patient, empathetic, enthusiastic, and committed to student-centered learning.
- Comfortable with hands-on activities, group facilitation, and classroom management.
- Growth mindset and willingness to learn Embark UnMath’s pedagogy.
