Job description

One of the leading manufacturing companies is seeking a highly experienced and driven Chemical Engineer to join its team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, and a proven ability to optimize production efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Design & Optimization

  • Develop and implement innovative chemical processes to improve product yield and reduce operational waste.
  • Perform mass and energy balance calculations to optimize resource utilization.
  • Scale up laboratory and pilot scale processes into full-scale industrial production.

2. Compliance & Regulatory Standards

  • Ensure full adherence to local and international manufacturing regulations, including ISO standards and industry-specific certifications.
  • Manage regulatory documentation, permits, and reports required by environmental and industrial governing bodies.
  • Lead internal audits to verify that all chemical storage, handling, and disposal processes meet legal and corporate compliance benchmarks.

3. Rigorous Safety Management

  • Conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate risks within the manufacturing facility.
  • Implement and enforce strict PPE protocols and emergency response procedures for the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Design and oversee safety instrumentation systems, ensuring that fail-safes and pressure relief systems are maintained at 100% reliability.

4. Technical Leadership & Quality Control

  • Supervise chemical production lines to ensure adherence to strict quality specifications and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing root-cause analysis (RCA) for any deviations in safety or quality.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and a "safety-first" mindset.

5. Operational Efficiency & Sustainability

  • Identify and execute cost-reduction strategies through raw material substitution or energy-saving technologies.
  • Manage waste-treatment protocols, ensuring zero-harm discharge and promoting "green chemistry" initiatives where possible.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical processes, process engineering, and plant operations.
  • Hands-on experience with process optimization, troubleshooting, and safety management systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial standards, environmental regulations, and quality control practices.
  • Proficiency in process simulation tools and engineering software is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
