Job Description
Company DescriptionMorphMarket is the leading online platform for finding loving homes for the world's least-loved pets. We connect breeders and keepers of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Our global marketplace fosters the efficient, ethical, and legitimate trade of these animals.
We are expanding our global engineering team! We currently have a talented group of engineers based in Kathmandu and are looking to hire another exceptional developer in Nepal.
This is a full-stack Developer role. While you will work across our entire stack, we are particularly looking for someone who can drive impact in the following areas:
- DevOps & AWS: Managing and improving our cloud infrastructure.
- SQL Optimization: Analyzing and optimizing database queries for maximum speed and efficiency.
- Backend Development: Writing robust API code (primarily using Python and Django).
- Frontend Development: Building responsive interfaces using TypeScript and React.
- Product Strategy: Collaborating on product-level work to help spec and scope new features.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics OR significant, verifiable evidence of reaching the same technical level as a self-taught engineer.
- Strong English communication skills, particularly in written form.
- Proficiency in backend web development. We use Python/Django, but we highly welcome candidates with strong experience in other MVC frameworks (like Ruby on Rails, Laravel, etc.) who are eager to learn.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI coding tools (like Claude Code) to work effectively and multiply your productivity.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of how to set up and manage systems on AWS using Terraform.
- Bonus: Experience in the e-commerce domain or a personal interest in reptiles and exotic animals!
- Fully Remote Work: Once your initial training/onboarding is complete, this is a fully remote position for a US-based company.
- Flexible Hours: You will not be forced to work US time zones, though we do require some daily overlap with European working hours (e.g., Germany).
- Global Pay: You will be paid competitively in U.S. Dollars (USD) at salaries significantly higher than local salaries in Nepal for the same experience.
- Maker-Friendly Schedule: We keep meetings to an absolute minimum so you can focus on deep work.
- Zero-Blame Culture: We have a zero-blame culture for bugs. We expect our team to be highly productive and perform well, but we treat mistakes as opportunities to learn rather than point fingers.
- Fast-Paced Environment: We move quickly and typically deploy to production around five times a day.
- Growth & Mentorship: An environment where you will learn a lot and have the opportunity to mentor others. Want to see how we work? Read this blog post about our engineering practices: Scaling a Monolith to 1M LOC: 113 Pragmatic Lessons from Tech Lead to CTO.
