About the Organization

Kapilvastu Integrated Development Services (KIDS) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization established on 31 August 2005 in Kapilvastu District, Nepal. The organization is duly registered with the District Administration Office and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) since 20 March 2007.
KIDS was founded by committed community members with the vision of fostering a Healthy, inclusive and prosperous society with full of peace and equal justice. Since its establishment, the organization has worked to improve the quality of life of vulnerable and marginalized communities through inclusive, community-driven, and sustainable development interventions.
KIDS implements development and humanitarian programs across Lumbini Province in partnership with government agencies, national and international NGOs, UN agencies, donor organizations, and local communities. Its core thematic areas include Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Child Protection, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), Education, and Community Empowerment.

Job Summary

The Technical Coordinator – Enterprise Development will provide technical leadership and coordination for enterprise development initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, promoting sustainable income generation, and fostering inclusive economic growth. The position will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance of enterprise development interventions, with a focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), entrepreneurship promotion, market systems development, value chain strengthening, financial inclusion, and employment generation.
The coordinator will work closely with local governments, private sector actors, financial institutions, cooperatives, producer groups, youth and women entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of enterprise development activities aligned with national policies and local economic development priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

A. Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance on enterprise development strategies, business development services, and entrepreneurship promotion.
  • Support the development/ manage of technical guidelines, training manuals, business toolkits, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure quality implementation of enterprise development interventions in Kapilvastu.
  • Promote innovation and climate-resilient business practices.
  • Ensure timely, efficient, and quality delivery of planned activities in line with approved plans and budgets.
  • Represent the project in district and municipal coordination meetings, platforms, and technical working groups and provide technical support.

2. Enterprise Promotion and Business Development

  •  Identify viable enterprise opportunities through market assessments and value chain analyses.
  • Facilitate enterprise selection, business planning, start-up support, and business expansion.
  • Strengthening business management capacities of entrepreneurs.
  • Support enterprises in improving productivity, quality standards, and competitiveness.
  • Facilitate ideation and incubation.
  • Facilitate in running climate farmer field school
  • Promote green, inclusive, and sustainable enterprises.

3. Market Systems and Value Chain Development

  •  Conduct market and value chain assessments.
  • Strengthen market linkages between producers, processors, buyers, and service providers.
  • Facilitate access to market information and business networking.
  • Promote aggregation, branding, packaging, and market diversification.
  • Support participation in trade fairs, exhibitions, and business forums.
  • Support logistics for fairs, exhibitions, and B2B meetings

4. Financial Inclusion

  •  Facilitate entrepreneurs’ access to financial services.
  • Coordinate with banks, microfinance institutions, cooperatives, and financial service providers.
  • Promote financial literacy and business investment planning.
  • Facilitate joint planning, resource leveraging, and co-financing initiatives with local stakeholders.

5. Capacity Building

  • Deliver enterprise development /business skills development training.
  • Deliver life-skills training to project participants
  • Collaborate with local governments for capacity building of young people
  • Capacity building of project team for effective implementation of the project activities.
  • Mentor enterprise facilitators and business coaches.
  • Organize exposure visits and learning events.

6. Partnership and Stakeholder Coordination

  •  Maintain strong coordination with municipalities, provincial authorities, line agencies, private sector organizations, chambers of commerce, cooperatives, and development partners.
  • Connect enterprises to lead firms, cooperatives, aggregators, suppliers, and buyers.
  • Identify and partnerships with local market actors, BFIs/MFIs, cooperatives, chambers of commerce, and business service providers.
  • Support linking youth businesses to digital marketplaces and e-commerce channels.
  • Facilitate networking, peer-learning, and knowledge-sharing among youth-led enterprises.
  • Represent the project in relevant coordination forums.

7. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Reporting

  •  Develop enterprise monitoring tools and performance indicators.
  • Monitor enterprise performance and project outcomes.
  • Document success stories, innovations, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, progress updates, and case studies.
  • Support baseline, midline, endline, and impact assessments.

8. Safeguarding, Gender, and Social Inclusion

  •  Ensure enterprise interventions are gender-responsive and socially inclusive.
  • Promote participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, returnee migrants, and marginalized communities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational safeguarding, child protection, and anti-fraud policies.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Education and Professional Qualifications

  •  Master’s degree in economics, Rural Development, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture Economics, Development Studies, Management, with at least 2 years working experience in
    related fields. or
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Rural Development, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture Economics, Development Studies, Management, or a related field with at least 5 years working experience in related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise development for women, youth, and disadvantaged communities.
  • Experience coordinating with local governments under Kapilvastu.
  • Experience in business development services, entrepreneurship training, and market linkage facilitation.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Nepal’s MSME ecosystem and entrepreneurship promotion.
  • Knowledge of value chain development and market systems approaches.
  • Understanding of financial inclusion and business financing mechanisms.
  • Experience in enterprise mentoring and coaching.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong project planning and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with data collection and reporting tools is an asset
