Job Description

Job Title: Research Assistant – Data Collection (Bharatpur)

Project: Preventing occupational health problems among manual construction workers in Nepal (Surakshya)

Location: Bharatpur Metropolitan City

Job Type: Short-term contract (with possibility of extension)

Reports To: Project Officer

Required Nos: Two

Job Summary: Nepal Development Society (NeDS) is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support the Surakshya Project. The position involves field-based data collection on Occupational Health disease along with heat related illnesses, among construction workers ensuring accuracy, reliability, and ethical compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Nepal Development Society and Nepal Health Research Council ethical standards.

  • Participate in training and collect data using tablet/mobile-based tools.

  • Record measurements accurately and maintain detailed field notes.

  • Ensure data quality, safety, and timely submission.

  • Coordinate with research participants (Construction Workers, Contractors and Associations).

  • Obtain informed consent and maintain professionalism in all interactions.

  • Regularly report progress and challenges to the Field Officer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in health or social sciences), Intermediate in Nursing, Health Assistants, Lab Technician.

  • Prior experience in research data collection; knowledge of tablet/mobile data collection preferred (not mandatory).

  • Two-wheeler with a valid license preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with Construction Worker, Contractors, Associations, stakeholders, and study participants.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
