Job Description
We're hiring a hands-on Engineering Team Lead to own the technical build and lead the engineering team as we scale. This is not a pure people-management role — you'll be in the codebase most days, making architecture calls, shipping features, and reviewing code, while also setting technical direction, hiring, and growing a small, high-caliber engineering team under you.

You'll report directly to the founder and have real ownership over how the product is built, not just what gets built.

What You'll Do

  • Write production code regularly — this is a hands-on lead role, not a management-only position.
  • Own the technical architecture for a governed, agent-operable workflow system: workflow state, approvals, integrations, signer flows, audit trails, and the APIs/MCP surface that AI agents and clients call.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the engineering team — set technical standards, run code reviews, unblock people, and make the team better at shipping.
  • Make build-vs-buy and scaling decisions as usage grows — you've done this before and know where the real risk is.
  • Partner closely with the product on roadmap, sequencing, and trade-offs, translating business priorities into technical plans.
  • Build a culture where AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) are used deliberately as a force multiplier across the team, not just individually.
  • Own production reliability, on-call structure, and incident response as the team and system grow.

What We're Looking For

  • Super senior, hands-on engineer — 8+ years building and shipping production software, with real depth, not just breadth.
  • Proven SaaS product experience — you've built and operated a real multi-tenant SaaS product end to end, not just a feature inside one.
  • Scale experience — you've taken a system through real growth (traffic, data volume, or team size) and can speak concretely to what broke, what you changed, and why.
  • Genuine AI coding experience — you use AI coding tools as a core part of how you build software today, and you have a point of view on how to get a team using them well, safely, and productively.
  • Leadership experience — you've led an engineering team before, ideally in a lead role where you stayed technical rather than moving fully into management.
  • Comfortable with the ambiguity and pace of an early-stage product — priorities shift, and you help bring clarity rather than waiting for it.
  • Strong written communication — as a remote, distributed team, how you document decisions and communicate async matters as much as your code.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with workflow orchestration, document generation, eSignature, or approval systems.
  • Experience building against or integrating with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar agent-tooling standards.
  • Previous 0-to-1 or early-stage startup experience, where you were one of the first engineering hires.
  • Experience hiring and building out a team from a small base.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote — work from anywhere in Nepal, on a schedule that works for deep, focused engineering work.
  • Real ownership — you'll shape the architecture, the team, and the technical culture, not inherit someone else's decisions.
  • A small, senior team where your work is directly visible in what ships.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
