Position Overview

We’re hiring a Business Analyst to join our Business Team as we build AI-native accounting software across our group of platforms — FigsFlow, Ledgian, and RentalBux. This role is for an ACCA affiliate who understands real accounting and business problems and can convert them into clear, structured requirements that product and engineering can build against.

You won’t be doing routine practice work. From day one, you’ll be working alongside the Product Lead and engineers on real product decisions — unpacking accounting and compliance problems, mapping how they should behave inside AI-native workflows, and writing the requirements that shape how our accounting and tax products actually work.

This is a launchpad role: strong performers will be given increasing ownership over specific product areas and a clear path toward a permanent Business Analyst position.

What You’ll Do

Business & Requirement Analysis

• Understand accounting, tax and compliance problems and translate them into clear, structured business requirements.

• Break down business and stakeholder requirements into user stories, business rules, edge cases and acceptance criteria that engineering can act on.

• Ask the right clarifying questions when a requirement is ambiguous or incomplete, rather than assuming.

• Maintain traceability between what was requested, what was documented, and what gets built.

AI-Native Product Translation

• Work with the Product Lead to map how accounting and tax logic should behave across AI-native workflows and automation rules, not just traditional screens.

• Stress-test proposed designs against real-world accounting scenarios and edge cases before they reach engineering.

• Flag where AI-assisted logic could get accounting treatment wrong, and document the correct rule.

Cross-functional Coordination

• Act as the link between the business/compliance side and engineering, making sure requirements aren’t lost or distorted in translation.

• Sit in on requirement walkthroughs and design reviews, taking structured notes and following up on action items.

• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by verifying delivered features match the intended business logic.

Documentation & Process

• Keep requirement documents, decision logs and rationale organised and up to date.

• Research relevant tax guidance, legislation and industry practice to inform requirements.

• Contribute to improving how requirements are captured and handed off, flagging recurring gaps or friction in the process.

What We Need

• ACCA affiliate or a comparable accountancy/tax qualification.

• Around one year of relevant experience in accounting, audit, tax or a related field.

• Tech-savvy — comfortable working with software tools and genuinely curious about how accounting logic translates into product design.

• Demonstrated ability to understand a real business problem and convert it into a clear, structured, buildable requirement.

• Strong written English — able to explain accounting and tax logic clearly and precisely to a non-accounting audience (e.g. developers).

• Analytical mindset — comfortable breaking a vague business problem into concrete, checkable pieces.

• Comfortable working in ambiguity and asking questions rather than guessing.

Nice to Have

• Interest in fintech or AI-native software products, even without prior domain exposure.

• Basic understanding of how web applications are structured (pages, forms, data flow) — conceptual familiarity is enough.

• Experience with documentation or prototyping tools (Notion, Figma, Confluence, or similar).

• Any exposure to Agile/Scrum ways of working.
