Role Description The USA/Canada Senior Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu, responsible for guiding students who wish to study in the United States or Canada. This position involves conducting individual counselling sessions, assessing student profiles, and recommending suitable universities, programs, and pathways. The Senior Counsellor manages application workflows, including document preparation, deadline tracking, and coordination with partner institutions, while ensuring accurate information on admission requirements and visa processes. Day-to-day tasks include organizing information sessions, maintaining student records, collaborating with team members to improve services, and supporting students and families with timely, clear communication throughout the study-abroad journey.
Qualifications
  • Strong counselling and advising skills focused on study-abroad pathways to the USA and Canada, including profile assessment and course/university selection.
  • Proficiency in application and documentation processes for US and Canadian institutions, including familiarity with admission requirements and visa procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to students and parents.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple student cases, track deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contribute to student outreach activities, and uphold ethical and transparent counselling practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Management, or a related field; prior experience in international education consulting or student counselling is highly beneficial.
  • Strong command of English and Nepali; additional language skills are an asset.
  • Comfort with using office productivity tools, CRM or student management systems, and online research to support accurate, updated guidance.
