Job Description

Company Description

Velorona is a back-office software platform designed for staffing firms and contractor-heavy businesses managing 20 or more contractors. The platform replaces spreadsheets, email, and manual data re-entry with a single system for timesheets, client invoicing, sub-vendor reconciliation, payroll details, time off tracking, and client portals. Velorona enables automated invoicing from approved timesheets, real-time visibility into margins and workforce data, and streamlined reconciliation of sub-vendor invoices before payment. The solution is built for fast deployment, going live in 5–14 days with no setup fees and a strong focus on eliminating duplicate data entry and margin leaks. Velorona’s core value is helping teams achieve better margins and clearer operational visibility through one integrated platform.

Shape the tools that power modern workforce management.

Velorona is looking for a Product Designer to lead design strategy across our core workforce management workflows — the systems that operations teams and businesses rely on every day to manage complex, high-stakes work. You'll partner closely with product, engineering, and operations to turn dense, rule-heavy processes into experiences that feel simple, intuitive, and scalable.

What You'll Do

  • Own design strategy end-to-end for Velorona's core workforce management workflows, ensuring every experience is clear, efficient, and built to scale as the product grows.
  • Uncover design opportunities through user research, data analysis, and ongoing conversations with stakeholders and end users — and use those insights to actively shape the product roadmap.
  • Write clear design briefs that tie together business goals, user needs, and engineering feasibility for key initiatives, so teams align before a single pixel is drawn.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers as a true thought partner — not just executing briefs, but helping define, prototype, test, and ship high-impact features from concept to launch.
  • Drive design quality at every level — from systems thinking and interaction design down to microcopy and edge-case handling — so that even complex underlying logic feels effortless to the end user.
  • Build and evolve scalable design patterns, component guidelines, and interaction standards that let the product surface grow without fragmenting the user experience.
  • Champion the user and the business by developing a deep understanding of user pain points, regulatory constraints, and the operational realities of the businesses Velorona serves.

About You

  • 2+ years of product design experience, with demonstrated work on SaaS platforms, enterprise tools, B2B software, or other operationally complex systems.
  • A cross-functional collaborator — you're comfortable partnering with engineering and product as a thought partner, shaping what gets built and why, not just how it looks.
  • A systems thinker — you're experienced designing interconnected workflows where a change in one area ripples across others. You think in states, roles, permissions, and edge cases, not just happy paths.
  • A strong craftsperson — sharp interaction design, information architecture, and UI skills, with shipped work you can point to where you made something genuinely complex feel simple.
  • Comfortable with complexity — you can take dense operational processes and translate them into experiences that don't require a manual to use.
  • A self-starter — you take initiative in ambiguous environments, set direction when it's unclear, and use research, workshops, and data to build alignment rather than waiting for it.
  • Bonus: familiarity with component-driven design systems (Figma, shadcn/ui, or similar) and an understanding of how design decisions translate into frontend implementation.
