Our Culture
We believe in working together, taking ownership, and always growing. Our team supports each other across departments and locations, and we invest in our people through learning opportunities and internal career growth. If you value collaboration and personal development, you'll feel right at home here.
About the Role
We're hiring an Engineering Manager to own the structure, accountability, and execution of our product development process end-to-end. This is a hybrid seat: part hands-on project/product leadership, part engineering management. You won't just delegate the process; you'll personally run sprint planning, drive roadmap execution, and coordinate across functions, while mentoring engineers and making technical calls.
If you like operating where "ship fast" meets "get it exactly right," this is that seat.
What You'll Do
Team & delivery leadership
- Own planning, backlog refinement, and release timelines end-to-end.
- Set clear, measurable goals per sprint/release and hold the team to them.
- Identify and remove blockers fast, whether technical, cross-team, or process-related.
- Run an effective cadence (standups, retros, planning) suited to a fast-moving fintech product.
- Track velocity and delivery health, and surface risks to leadership before they become fires.
Product & prioritization
- Partner with founders/leadership to translate business and compliance requirements (tax rules, IRS filing deadlines, state-level tax logic) into a realistic, prioritized roadmap.
- Write and tighten specs, acceptance criteria, and user stories to keep the team unblocked.
- Make the prioritization call when the team is stuck or misaligned.
- Align closely with Product Manager on priorities, timelines, and process.
People management
- Directly manage engineers and coordinate with product/project functions on shared workflows.
- Run 1:1s, give real feedback, and support performance growth.
- Hire and onboard new engineering talent as the team scales.
- Build a culture of ownership and accountability.
Technical oversight
- Participate in architecture and technical decisions, especially anything touching tax-calculation accuracy, data security, or compliance (PII, IRS e-file standards, SOC 2).
- Review code and technical designs when needed; this isn't a hands-off role.
- Balance feature velocity against technical debt and system reliability, given the accuracy stakes of tax software.
Compliance & risk
- Get up to speed quickly on the regulatory landscape: e-file requirements, IRS deadlines, data security and privacy obligations.
- Ensure the team treats compliance and accuracy as first-class delivery requirements, not afterthoughts.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves
- 5+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in an engineering management, tech lead, or hybrid EM/PM role
- Proven ability to personally run project/product processes (planning, roadmapping, stakeholder communication), not just delegate them
- Strong organizational and process-building skills, with a track record of establishing effective delivery practices
- Comfortable making prioritization and product decisions with incomplete information
- Excellent written and verbal communication across engineering, product, and leadership
- Experience with modern engineering practices (CI/CD, code review, agile/scrum or similar)
- Experience working closely with or managing PM/product functions, not just engineering teams
- Hands-on coding background in Python, Node, or React to stay credible in technical discussions
Preferred (Nice to have)
- Fintech, tax software, or another highly regulated/compliance-heavy domain
- Familiarity with U.S. tax concepts (filing forms, deadlines, state vs. federal rules), or the ability to ramp up fast
- Startup or early-stage product experience, comfortable with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats
- Background in data security/compliance frameworks relevant to financial or tax data (SOC 2, IRS Pub 1075)
Benefits
Work & schedule
- Flexible working hours
- Daily chef-prepared meals, plus snacks and coffee
Financial security (full-time)
- Provident Fund
- Accidental insurance up to Rs. 1,500,000
- In-hospitalization coverage up to Rs. 200,000, with a family floater option (parents or spouse plus two children)
- Festival and work-anniversary bonuses
- Referral bonus for introducing talented candidates
Growth
- Paid training and certifications relevant to your role
- Company-sponsored higher education (Finance, Accounting, or MBA) under a five-year commitment
