Nepal Acts
NepalActs is a citizen-driven civic platform rethinking how media and information are created and shared. We believe news should not only report events but also amplify citizens' voices, encourage informed public discussion, and strengthen democratic participation.
We're looking for a Video Moderator (Digital News Video Producer) who understands news, thinks visually, and can transform verified information into engaging videos for digital audiences.
This role is ideal for someone who follows current affairs closely, has strong editorial judgment, and enjoys creating impactful visual stories for social media.
What you'll do
- Monitor national and international news, public affairs, politics, society, and emerging trends.
- Identify stories that are suitable for short-form and social-first video formats.
- Research and source relevant photos, videos, official statements, archival footage, and other visual materials.
- Verify the authenticity, date, location, and context of all visual content before publication.
- Produce complete news videos using editing, subtitles, graphics, voiceovers, and other storytelling elements.
- Adapt content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
- Write accurate, engaging `, captions, and video descriptions.
- Publish and schedule content with appropriate thumbnails, metadata, and platform settings.
- Ensure every published video meets NepalActs' editorial standards for accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism.
- Respect copyright, attribution, privacy, and ethical use of third-party content.
- Work closely with the editorial team to cover breaking news, explain complex issues, and produce public-interest stories.
What we're looking for
- Strong understanding of Nepali and international news, politics, public affairs, and current events.
- Excellent news judgment and editorial thinking.
- Experience with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar software.
- Ability to research efficiently and source credible visual materials.
- Understanding of digital verification techniques, including reverse image search and source verification.
- Strong writing skills in Nepali and English for headlines, captions, subtitles, and short scripts.
- Familiarity with social media publishing, audience behavior, and platform-specific video formats.
- Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines, especially during breaking news.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to factual, ethical journalism.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with a newsroom, digital publication, television, media organization, or news-focused social media platform.
- Experience producing news reels, YouTube Shorts, explainers, event summaries, or documentary-style videos.
- Knowledge of motion graphics, thumbnail design, voiceover production, and basic animation.
- Experience working with official statements, agency footage, archival content, and user-generated content responsibly.
- Familiarity with audience analytics and content performance.
Why Join NepalActs
You'll help shape a new model of journalism that puts citizens at the center of public discourse.
