Role Description The Product Strategy & Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Kathmandu. This position is responsible for defining product strategies for commercial vehicle offerings, analyzing market trends, and identifying growth opportunities aligned with business objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting market and competitor research, managing the product lifecycle, coordinating product development initiatives, and collaborating with sales, service, and technical teams to refine product positioning. The manager will prepare business cases, performance reports, and forecasts, monitor product profitability, and recommend improvements to features, pricing, and services. The role also involves working with senior leadership to prioritize strategic initiatives and ensuring product plans are executed effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute short- and long-term product strategies aligned with the company's business objectives, market trends, and customer requirements.
- Conduct regular market research, customer studies, and competitor benchmarking to identify product opportunities, market gaps, pricing trends, and emerging technologies.
- Liaise with OEM partners to communicate Nepal market requirements, recommend product improvements, and coordinate localization or customization of products.
- Manage the complete product lifecycle, including product introduction, enhancement, phase-out, and replacement to maintain a competitive portfolio.
- Lead end-to-end product launch activities, including business case preparation, pricing recommendations, launch plans, training, marketing support, and dealer readiness.
- Develop product positioning, value propositions, pricing recommendations, and go-to-market strategies to maximize market share and profitability.
- Equip sales, dealer, and after-sales teams with product knowledge through training programs, product manuals, comparison sheets, and technical presentations.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Service, Parts, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful product planning, forecasting, inventory readiness, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities in emerging technologies such as electric mobility, alternate fuels, connected vehicles, telematics, and digital solutions, and recommend future product roadmaps for the Nepal market.
Qualifications
- Strong Product Strategy and Product Management skills, with experience defining roadmaps and managing product lifecycles.
- Advanced Analytical Skills and Research capabilities to interpret data, evaluate market trends, and support data-driven decisions.
- Hands-on experience in Product Development, preferably within automotive, commercial vehicles, or related industrial sectors.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field; a master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Proven ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple projects, and deliver results within set timelines.
- Proficiency with MS Office and analytical tools; familiarity with project management or product management software is beneficial.
- Experience in the Nepalese commercial vehicle market or similar automotive markets is a plus.
