Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Oncology to join a high-acuity unit at a leading academic medical center. The RN will provide comprehensive care to patients with complex hematologic and oncologic conditions in a mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical (MS) environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver direct patient care to oncology and hematology patients
- Administer chemotherapy and manage related side effects
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias
- Provide care for patients undergoing stem cell transplants (Autologous, Allogeneic, and Syngeneic)
- Assist in advanced treatments including CAR-T therapy
- Administer blood products and manage central/peripheral lines
- Perform sterile dressing changes and infection control procedures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and respond to rapid response situations
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic medical records system
- Acute and Chronic Leukemias (ALL, AML, CLL, CML)
- Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
- Multiple Myeloma
- Myelodysplastic Syndromes
- Amyloidosis, Aplastic Anemia, and other hematologic disorders
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical (MS) and inpatient Hematology/Oncology experience
- Strong experience in Oncology (preferred)
- Chemotherapy Certification (ONS) – Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
- EPIC charting experience – Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Prior Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) experience
- Experience in high-acuity PCU or Oncology units
- Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Dysrhythmia interpretation
- Feeding tube management
- Central line and PICC line management
- Blood product administration
- Chemotherapy administration
- Oxygen therapy (nasal cannula)
- Rapid response team coordination
- 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating or Night only)
- Scheduling is determined every 4 weeks based on department needs
- Flexibility required for shift rotation
- Charting System: EPIC (mandatory experience required)
- Compliance: Medical exemptions only (if applicable)
- Overtime: Applicable after 40 hours/week
- On-call: Not required
