Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer role based in Kathmandu. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing sophisticated AI systems and machine learning models for various applications. The role involves working on natural language processing (NLP), pattern recognition, and neural network development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into software products and continuous performance optimization will also be key components of the role.
Responsibilities
- Design and build AI solutions using LLMs, agents, RAG, prompt pipelines, tool use, and workflow orchestration
- Develop and deploy traditional ML and deep learning models where they make more sense than LLMs
- Turn vague business problems into practical technical solutions
- Build backend services and APIs that expose AI functionality reliably in production
- Work on evaluation, observability, guardrails, and performance tuning for AI systems
- Create prototypes quickly, then harden the right ones into scalable production systems
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define use cases and delivery plans
- Help shape architecture, technical standards, and engineering decisions around AI systems
- Stay current with relevant developments, but keep a practical mindset about what is actually useful
Qualifications
- Strong experience as an AI Engineer, ML Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, or similar senior role
- Solid hands-on experience with LLMs and modern AI application patterns
- Experience building with agents, tool-calling systems, RAG pipelines, or multi-step AI workflows
- Strong fundamentals in machine learning and deep learning
- Good understanding of when to use LLMs and when classical ML / deep learning / rules-based systems are the better choice
- Strong programming skills, ideally in Python
- Experience building production-grade services, APIs, and backend systems
- Experience with model evaluation, prompt iteration, testing, and reliability in AI systems
- Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and communicate clearly
