Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Technical SEO

•            Conduct and maintain full technical SEO audits crawlability, indexation, canonical tags, redirect management, robots.txt, XML sitemap

•            Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) using Google Search Console and PageSpeed Insights

•            Ensure proper rendering of Next.js pages for Googlebot (SSR vs SSG vs ISR strategy)

•            Implement and maintain structured data markup (schema.org) — LocalBusiness, LegalService, Person, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Article schemas

•            Manage hreflang implementation for multilingual content (English, Nepali)

 

On-Page & Content SEO

•            Own keyword research and maintain the firm's keyword map across all practice areas and geographic targets

•            Write and optimize title tags, meta descriptions, H1/H2 structures, and internal linking architecture across all pages

•            Develop and execute a content calendar targeting personal injury keywords across NYC boroughs and neighborhoods

•            Identify content gaps using Google Search Console data, competitor analysis, and Google Ads search term intelligence

•            Ensure all content meets Google's E-E-A-T standards for YMYL legal content

 

Local SEO

•            Manage and optimize two Google Business Profile listings (Manhattan and Jackson Heights) including posts, Q&A, photos, and review response

•            Build and maintain NAP consistency across all local citations and legal directories (Avvo, Justia, FindLaw, Martindale)

•            Develop and optimize location-specific landing pages for NYC boroughs and key neighborhoods

•            Execute local citation building strategy across legal and community directories

 

Reporting & Analytics

•            Own Google Search Console monitor indexation, performance, Core Web Vitals, and manual actions daily

•            Set up and maintain Google Analytics 4 conversion tracking (phone clicks, form submissions, chat initiations)

•            Produce monthly SEO performance reports with ranking movement, traffic trends, and conversion attribution

•            Extract SEO intelligence from Google Ads search term reports and Quality Score data

 

Off-Page & Authority Building

•            Identify and execute link building opportunities through legal directories, HARO/journalist outreach, and community partnerships

•            Monitor backlink profile for toxic links and manage disavow file if needed

•            Track and convert unlinked brand mentions into backlinks

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

•            Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, Business, or a related field

•            Minimum 1 year of hands-on SEO experience (agency, in-house, or freelance all considered)

•            Proficiency with Google Search Console and Google Analytics

•            Working knowledge of on-page SEO: title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal linking, canonical tags

•            Familiarity with local SEO and Google Business Profile management

•            Strong written English you will be reviewing and editing legal content for SEO compliance

•            Analytical mindset comfortable reading data and making decisions from it

 

Strongly Preferred:

•            Experience with Next.js or React-based websites understanding of how JavaScript-rendered pages affect SEO

•            Hands-on experience with schema markup / structured data (JSON-LD)

•            Experience in the legal, healthcare, or financial vertical (YMYL content experience)

•            Familiarity with Google Ads and ability to extract SEO intelligence from paid search data

•            Experience with Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Moz, Semrush, or similar tools

•            Understanding of Core Web Vitals and basic page performance optimization

 

Exceptional Differentiators (will significantly strengthen your application):

•            Experience running SEO for a law firm or professional services firm in a major US metro

•            Demonstrable case study showing you moved a site from low organic visibility to measurable ranking improvement
