Location: Kathmandu (Onsite)

Work Schedule: Must work during US Pacific Standard Time (PST) to overlap with US teams.

Salary: $9,500 - $12,000 per year

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior People Representative to join our globally distributed People Operations team. In this role, you will act as a tactical partner to your team, driving HR initiatives that support our rapid growth. This is a high-impact role ideal for a seasoned HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment.


Key Responsibilities

HR Operations, Compliance & Policy

  • Maintain and audit employee records in our HRIS (BambooHR), ensuring 100% data accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key HR functions to ensure consistency and scalability across global teams.
  • Assist in the development, localization, and implementation of HR policies and handbooks that align with both US standards and local best practices.
  • Contribute to the administration of a comprehensive Compensation framework and Total rewards strategy, ensuring internal equity, market competitiveness, and alignment with company goals.
  • Manage benefits administration and leave management for our distributed workforce.
  • Partner with the Finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, managing salary adjustments, bonuses, and resolving discrepancies for global employees and contractors.
  • Oversee the complete onboarding lifecycle for new hires, including contract preparation, IT coordination, and orientation sessions, ensuring a seamless Day 1 experience.
  • Proactively identify retention risks and cultural gaps, implementing data-driven strategies to improve employee engagement and satisfaction, along with the People Operations Manager


Culture & Engagement

  • Champion COVU’s culture and values, organizing virtual events and wellness initiatives to foster connection in a remote environment.
  • Facilitate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to ensure a supportive and inclusive workplace for all.
  • Develop and oversee strategic initiatives focused on employee well being, employee satisfaction and employee community, ensuring a holistic approach to a positive and connected work environment.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification is a plus.
  • Experience: 4-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with HRIS platforms (BambooHR preferred), ATS (e.g., Greenhouse, Lever), and Google Workspace.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
  • Experience in the US Property and Casualty Insurance industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in a US-based tech startup is a plus.
