Industry Preference: Iron & Steel Manufacturing
Job Summary:We are seeking a qualified and dynamic Assistant Manager – Procurement, Purchase & Logistics to oversee sourcing, vendor development, logistics, and export-related operations. The ideal candidate must have relevant experience in iron and steel manufacturing industries and be proficient in international trade procedures, including TT, BG, and banking/export documentation.
Key Responsibilities:Procurement & Purchase:- Source and procure raw materials (iron, steel coils, HR/GI sheets, structural items, etc.).
- Ensure timely procurement of materials adhering to quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders, follow up on deliveries, and coordinate quality checks.
- Identify and develop alternative suppliers to mitigate supply risks.
- Handle international procurement/export transactions, including Telegraphic Transfer (TT) and Bank Guarantee (BG) processes.
- Coordinate with finance and banking institutions to process LC (Letter of Credit), advance payments, and related documentation.
- Prepare and manage export documents such as invoice, packing list, bill of lading, COO, and shipping instructions.
- Ensure compliance with DGFT, EXIM policies, and customs/export regulations.
- Maintain records for audit, reporting, and reconciliation purposes.
- Manage local and international logistics, including transport of raw materials and export shipments.
- Optimize freight costs and ensure timely, safe, and compliant deliveries.
- Liaise with transporters, shipping lines, CHA, freight forwarders, and internal departments.
- Monitor logistics KPIs and address issues related to delays, damage, or cost overruns.
- Strong knowledge of iron & steel raw material procurement and supplier base.
- Experience with international banking transactions (TT, BG, LC).
- Familiarity with INCOTERMS, export documentation, and logistics.
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP systems.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor's Degreea relevant field. MBA preferred.
- Min 5 years of experience in procurement/logistics in iron & steel or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Experience handling export shipments and international banking procedures is essential.
