Job Description

Position Title: Disability Inclusion Officer (Position Reserved for a Qualified Person with a Disability)
Project: SAMBHAV JEEVAN: Enabling Better Lives Through Sight and Sound (CBM Global Funded)
Reports To: Project Manager & NNJS Central Office
Duty Station: Surkhet (with frequent travel across Karnali Province)

Position Statement:

In accordance with the SAMBHAV JEEVAN project design and NNJS’s commitment to disability inclusion and equal employment opportunities, this position is exclusively open to qualified persons with disabilities. Job Purpose:

To ensure meaningful inclusion of persons with disabilities across all project components by integrating disability-inclusive approaches in planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting, in alignment with NNJS and CBM Global standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Disability Inclusion Mainstreaming:

  • Integrate disability inclusion into all project activities, plans, and strategies.

  • Ensure accessibility (physical, communication, information, and attitudinal) in project interventions.

  • Promote inclusive eye and ear health services targeting persons with disabilities.

2. Technical Advisory Role:

  • Provide technical guidance to the project team on disability-inclusive programming.

  • Develop tools, guidelines, and checklists for inclusive practices.

  • Support implementation of disability-inclusive service delivery models.

  • Provide technical support to other CBM Global partner if necessary.

3. Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training and orientation for staff, partners, and stakeholders on disability inclusion.

  • Sensitize health workers and community-level stakeholders on inclusive practices.

4. Coordination & Networking:

  • Coordinate with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), government agencies, and stakeholders.

  • Work closely with the CBM Global Nepal team based in Surkhet.

  • Maintain regular communication with NNJS Central Office for approvals and technical guidance.

  • Coordination and Collaboration with OPDs

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, district, and provincial OPDs.

  • Organize regular meetings with OPDs to include their inputs in project planning and implementation.

  • Ensure OPDs are actively involved in decision-making, reviews, feedback processes, and accessibility audits.

  • Support OPDs to connect with eye health services and local government bodies.

  • Facilitate linkages between OPDs and referral systems to increase access for persons with disabilities.

5. Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Develop and track disability inclusive indicators and implementation..

  • Ensure disability-disaggregated data collection and reporting.

  • Document best practices, case studies, and lessons learned.

6. Safeguarding & Rights-Based Approach:

  • Promote a rights-based, gender-responsive, and inclusive approach in all project activities.

  • Ensure safeguarding and protection of persons with disabilities in accordance with NNJS safeguarding policies.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation, Development Studies, Disability Studies, Public Health, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in disability inclusion, rehabilitation, inclusive development, or disability rights programmes.

  • Experience working with NGOs/INGOs and disability-focused projects is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of disability rights, accessibility, and disability-inclusive development.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.

Eligibility Criteria:
