LACC Project is hiring a Communications Officer based in LACC Project Support Unit (PSU) office in Surkhet

Job description:
The Local Adaptation to Climate Change (LACC) Project supports land use planning and management, integrated water and forest resources management, environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces. Communications Officer plays a crucial role in developing and coordinating the LACC Project Communications and Visibility activities as outlined in LACC Project Communication and Visibility Strategy and Action Plan. Communications Officer also contributes to the LACC Project’s behavioral change activities.
Under the management of the Supervisor, the Communication Officer ensures the regular updating and management of LACC Project communication channels, develops and coordinates media relations, and provides communications-related guidance for Project staff and partners. The Communications Officer takes part in the design and production of visibility materials and participates in the planning of different communication, visibility and knowledge management activities while delivering LACC Project’s communications and general objectives. Additionally, Communications Officer has an essential role in planning, coordinating and developing materials for behavioural change activities.
LACC Project uses various platforms and tools to ensure reaching both local, national and international audiences. LACC has three social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn and its own website https://www.laccp.org.np/. Establishing the use of other communications and social media channels can be considered if it is relevant.
This position offers a great opportunity for young professional to contribute to the development and implementation of communications activities and processes, and deepen expertise in visibility and behavioral change activities within an international development project while contributing to climate resilience efforts in Nepal.
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or other relevant field
Languages: Excellent skills in written and spoken Nepali and English
Experience and skills
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in communications, public relations and/or other related fields
Experience in social media management, using digital communication tools and creating different types of content for various platforms in English and in Nepali
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent coordination, organizational and time management skills
Creative mindset and great attention to detail
Strong IT skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
Experience in editing and designing visibility and branding materials is an asset
Experience in collaboration with traditional media is an asset
Experience in video production and editing is an asset
Experience in developing and editing websites is an asset
Experience working with communications on a Finnish or EU-funded Project or other international donors is an asset
Experience and/or interest in climate change and sustainable natural resource management is an asset
Experience and/or interest in Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) is an asset
Experience in producing Behavior Change Communication (BCC) and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials is an asset
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the implementation of the Communication and Visibility Strategy and Action Plan of the LACC Project and ensure the alignment of communication and visibility activities with the strategy and action plan. Develop the strategy and action plan if necessary.
Develop and coordinate LACC Project communications and visibility activities and plans under the management of the Supervisor
Ensure adherence to the donor and organizational visibility and brand guidelines by reviewing communications and visibility materials and providing guidance to other team members
Manage, develop and maintain LACC Project’s social media presence, including planning, producing, and updating different types of content (visual, audiovisual, text etc.) and manage Project Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages
Maintain, develop, and regularly update the LACC Project website
Coordinate with LACC Project staff across PSU, Clusters, and external partners to gather content for communication materials and manage the editing of the materials
Create content on LACC activities from different locations across the Project area
Guide field staff and partners on communications and visibility related matters
Develop, coordinate and disseminate LACC Project behavioral change activities and materials in collaboration with other relevant Project staff, such as the GEDSI Specialist
Develop, coordinate and disseminate LACC Project IEC materials in collaboration with technical experts
Design visibility and branding materials as per the Communications and Visibility Strategy and Action Plan and coordinate the work with external service providers
Build and coordinate relations and content production with relevant media, including radio, print media, tv and other production centers
Maintain and keep updated the LACC Project Communications and Visibility folder and included materials in Project OneDrive
Respond to internal and external inquiries and requests related to communication and visibility matters
Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor and LACC Project management
