Job Description

About the Position We are seeking a qualified Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to manage environmental compliance and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) for our hydropower projects. This is a hybrid role requiring coordination at the corporate level and active monitoring at the project site.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate & Compliance (Office Based)

  • Prepare, review and update of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports Environment Management Plan(EMP),
  • Prepare and implementation of Environment and Safety Plan
  • Prepare and implementation of occupational Health and Safety (OHS) plan
  • Prepare and Implementation of  Emergency Response Plans.
  • Manage submissions and compliance with MoFE, DoED, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and project management on EHS policies.
  • Review contractor EHS documents and compliance logs.

Field Supervision (Site Based)

  • Implementation of EIA, EMP, E&S and OHA Plan at ongoing hydropower construction project site.
  • Established an interdepartmental responsibility on EMP, E&S and OHS on job site.
  • Stakeholders’ consultation and maintain healthy relation with local community.
  • Conduct regular site inspections (spoil disposal, waste management, water/air/noise quality).
  • Enforce PPE usage and safe work practices among workers and contractors.
  • Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions.
  • Manage community relations regarding health and safety concerns.
  • Investigate and report on any site incidents or near-misses.
Job Specification
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Forestry, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the GoN Acts, Policies related to Environment Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of approval procedures of EIA, GoN Land and Forest Land clearance.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in hydropower or construction EHS roles.
