Position Overview

We are looking for a high-impact Senior Software Engineer (SDE-3) to shape and influence our overall technical direction. This is a transformative individual contributor role where you will define not just how systems are built—but what should be built.

You will lead complex technical initiatives, partner closely with executive leadership on platform strategy, and drive engineering-led product direction.

This role requires a rare combination of architectural depth, commercial awareness, and execution judgment to build systems that scale both technology and business outcomes.

Initial Focus Areas

You’ll help define how Renegade operates as an AI-first platform, with agentic systems embedded into core workflows. Early priorities include:

• Shipping an initial agentic workflow that automates or accelerates a core business process.
• Establishing a standardized framework for testing and evaluating LLM and agent performance.
• Auditing the product ecosystem to identify high-ROI opportunities where agentic systems can reduce operational friction.
• Building trust with engineering through technically sound, commercially grounded specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Engineering Intelligence

• Co-Own the Product Roadmap: Translate production signals, metric trends, and user adoption data into product direction. Do not wait for a PRD—bring evidence-based proposals to the table  
• Executive Advisory: Present a quarterly Engineering Intelligence report to leadership, recommending strategic investments based on production risks and data trends.

High-Stakes Architecture & Organizational Impact

• Define the Architecture: Set the long-term direction for platform design, owning the consequences of critical system decisions.
• Establish Engineering Standards: Define and enforce standards with influence across the entire engineering ecosystem.
• Scale the Culture: Shape Renegade’s AI engineering philosophy, including responsible adoption, model governance, and agentic system design.

Mentorship at Scale

• Force Multiplier: Your impact is measured by the growth of engineers around you; actively develop the next generation of senior and staff engineers.

Qualifications & Experience

The Stack & Domain Expertise

• Hyper-Polyglot & Credible: Expert-level proficiency across the full stack, with the ability to contribute hands-on at any layer.
• Production AI Ecosystems: Experience with LLM integrations, RAG pipeline architecture, and agent orchestration at scale.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Strong experience with AWS multi-region architecture, high availability, security, and infrastructure as code (Terraform/Pulumi).
• Enterprise Data & Observability: Expertise in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, vector storage, event-driven systems, OpenTelemetry, SLO design, and error budget management.
