Job Description

About Sterling Wells Nepal

Sterling Wells Nepal is the operational and technology hub of a UK-based group of chartered accountancy firms and fintech companies, UK Property Accountants, Sterling & Wells, Crane & Partners, FigsFlow, RentalBux, Taxule, and PropertySPV. We support thousands of clients across 50+ countries, oversee accounting for over $8B in assets, and run an expanding portfolio of SaaS and fintech products from Kathmandu.

We are a tech-first professional services group. Our Nepal office is not a back-office, it is the engineering, product, and finance nerve centre of the group. We are growing fast and need a finance leader who can match that pace.

The Role:

This is not a reporting role. This is the person who runs the complete financial and operational engine of the group, independently.

You will report directly to the CEO and own everything: statutory compliance, management reporting, treasury, intercompany structures, team leadership, and every financial control and process that keeps a multi-jurisdiction, multi-currency group running cleanly.

A Finance Controller can be hired beneath you as the team scales. Your job is to lead and build, not to execute alone.

What Will you Own

Financial strategy & CEO partnership

•      Act as the primary financial counterpart to the CEO, proactively flagging risks, opportunities, and decisions that need strategic input.

•      Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario modelling across all group entities and product lines.

•      Build and own the financial infrastructure needed for future VC or institutional fundraising, including investor-grade reporting and data room preparation.

•      Track unit economics, margins, and revenue recognition across SaaS products (FigsFlow, RentalBux, PropertySPV) distinctly from advisory revenue.

Multi- entity financial management & reporting

•      Own consolidated monthly management accounts across group entities in the UK, Nepal, India, and the US, accurate, timely, and produced without prompting.

•      Produce financial KPIs and dashboards that give leadership real visibility into business performance, not just compliance outputs.

•      Always maintain audit-ready books across all entities.

•      Ensure financial reporting meets international standards and investor expectations.

Treasury & cash management

•      Full ownership of group cash flow planning and management across GBP, NPR, INR, and USD.

•      Manage working capital, liquidity positions, and multi-currency foreign exchange risk.

•      Optimise interbank transfers and fund movements across jurisdictions efficiently and cost-effectively.

Compliance, tax & statutory filings

•      Take complete ownership of all statutory filings, annual audits, and tax obligations across the UK, Nepal, India, and the US.

•      Coordinate external auditors and tax advisers in each jurisdiction.

•      Full command of Nepal tax requirements: TDS, VAT, corporate tax, IRD compliance, and all local statutory obligations.

•      Maintain compliance with transfer pricing regulations and document intercompany arrangements robustly.

Technology, systems & process

•      Own the finance systems stack, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent, and drive continuous improvement in automation and reporting efficiency.

•      Champion the use of AI-powered tools and financial technology to reduce manual work and improve insight quality.

•      Build scalable financial processes and controls appropriate for a fast-growing multi-jurisdiction group.

•      Evaluate and implement BI tools (Power BI, Metabase, or equivalent) to give leadership real-time financial visibility.

Team & operations leadership

•      Lead, develop, and grow the internal finance and operations team.

•      Design the team structure needed to scale

•      Establish approval workflows, financial controls, and risk management frameworks

What we need

Non-negotiable

•      Qualified, CA (ICAN or ICAI), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent. Essential.

•      8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3–4 years in a senior leadership role carrying genuine, independent ownership.

•      Proven track record running multi-entity finance, not just supporting it , including consolidation, statutory compliance, and management reporting across multiple jurisdictions.

•      Strong management accounting capability: producing accounts that drive decisions, not just satisfy compliance requirements.

•      Hands-on experience managing cash flow and treasury across multiple currencies.

•      Solid working knowledge of transfer pricing principles and intercompany financial structures.

•      Strong financial modelling capability

•      Excellent written and spoken English, able to present financial information clearly to the CEO, board, and institutional investors.

•      Demonstrated ability to operate independently: making decisions, managing external advisers, and running the finance function without routine escalation to senior leadership.

Strongly preferred

•      Experience in a tech, SaaS, fintech, or software product business, understanding product P&Ls, SaaS metrics, and software revenue recognition.

•      Experience preparing financial reporting for VC or institutional investors.

•      Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or UK GAAP.

•      Experience with BI or financial dashboard tools: Power BI, Metabase, Tableau, or equivalent.

•      Active interest in and comfort using AI-powered tools in finance workflows.

Why this role is different

•      You are positioned as the natural successor to a future Group CFO

•      This is a tech-first business: you will work with modern tools, data, and systems, not legacy spreadsheet processes.

What we offer

•      Competitive package negotiated based on experience and qualification. We will pay appropriately for the right person.

•      Direct reporting line to the CEO with visibility and influence across every part of the business.

•      International exposure: live, real work across UK, Nepal, India, and US jurisdictions.

•      At least one month of total working time each year dedicated to learning, training, and development.

•      Five-day working week, Saturday and Sunday off.

•      Daily office lunch paid annual leave, and sick leave.

•      Accident and medical insurance coverage.

•      Strong company culture.
