Core role requirements:
- The Materials Engineer will be responsible for all matters relating to quality assurance of specified materials in the design and construction tasks.
- Providing quality assurance of the trial sections performed by the Contractor.
- Providing all field laboratory testing and quality assurance/quality control during construction and definitions of design parameters of all construction materials.
- Validating the final IRI measurements on the completed road sections in conformance with the relevant ASTM procedure.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- At least fifteen (15) years’ experience with at least two (2) similar road projects managing materials testing QA/QC programs on road construction projects.
- The candidate must also demonstrate 5 years’ experience in
- a) Training of lab technicians;
- b) Calibration of lab equipment;
- c) Management and implementation of a document management system for lab testing results;
- d) Management of non-conformities.
- Materials testing experience shall include:
- a) Cement stabilization testing;
- b) Testing on soils and crushed rock materials;
- c) Mix design of Superpave asphalts;
- Field testing experience in the measurement of IRI to relevant standards and deflection measurements is required.
