JOB PURPOSE
The Communication and Fundraising Manager provides strategic leadership for KOSHISH’s communication, visibility, branding, advocacy, documentation, and resource mobilization functions. The position is responsible for strengthening the organization’s public profile, institutional reputation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability through effective communication and fundraising strategies.
The role allocates approximately 70% effort to strategic communication, visibility, branding, documentation, advocacy, and public engagement, and 30% effort to fundraising, donor engagement, partnership development, and resource mobilization.
Working closely with Program, MEAL, Finance, Human Resources, and Leadership Teams, the Manager ensures that KOSHISH’s impact, evidence, innovations, and learning are effectively communicated to diverse audiences while contributing to the organization’s long-term sustainability through strategic fundraising and partnership development.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Strategic Communication, Visibility and Branding (70%)
1. Strategic Communication Leadership
Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and periodic review of KOSHISH’s organizational communication and visibility strategy.
Develop annual communication plans aligned with organizational priorities, strategic objectives, advocacy goals, and donor requirements.
Position KOSHISH as a leading organization on mental health, psychosocial wellbeing, disability inclusion, and human rights through strategic communication initiatives.
Provide strategic communication advice and support to the Executive Director, management team, and project leads.
Ensure consistency in organizational messaging, tone, and representation across all communication channels and stakeholder engagements.
Establish communication systems and processes that strengthen organizational learning, visibility, accountability, and public engagement.
2. Branding and Institutional Identity Management
Lead the development, implementation, and periodic review of KOSHISH’s Branding and Visibility Guidelines.
Ensure consistent application of organizational branding standards across all communication products, publications, digital platforms, events, campaigns, and project materials.
Oversee the use of logos, visual identity elements, templates, donor branding requirements, and organizational messaging.
Develop and maintain standardized organizational templates for reports, presentations, publications, case stories, newsletters, policy briefs, and communication materials.
Ensure compliance with donor visibility and acknowledgment requirements across all projects and organizational outputs.
Conduct periodic branding compliance reviews and provide technical support to project teams.
3. Documentation, Knowledge Management and Institutional Learning
Lead organizational documentation and knowledge management systems.
Establish and maintain an institutional repository of communication, visibility, advocacy, and knowledge products.
Lead the development and publication of annual reports, organizational profiles, newsletters, policy briefs, research summaries, learning papers, and promotional materials.
Coordinate with Program and MEAL teams to translate program evidence, research findings, monitoring data, and lessons learned into accessible communication products.
Promote organizational learning through systematic documentation and dissemination of good practices, innovations, and lessons learned.
Strengthen institutional memory through effective archiving and management of communication resources.
4. Case Stories, Publications and Visibility Materials
Lead the identification, documentation, editing, and publication of case stories, success stories, recovery stories, human-interest stories, and impact narratives from project interventions.
Ensure all stories and publications reflect rights-based, ethical, and person-centered approaches.
Coordinate the development of high-quality visibility materials, including Brochures, Fact sheets, Annual reports, Newsletters, Infographics, IEC/BCC materials,
Policy briefs, Posters and banners, Videos and documentaries, Audio-visual products, and Presentation materials.
Ensure communication products effectively showcase organizational impact, innovation, advocacy achievements, and donor-supported results.
Coordinate professional photography, videography, graphic design, and multimedia production.
5. Digital Communication and Media Engagement
Provide strategic oversight of KOSHISH’s website, social media platforms, and digital communication channels.
Develop and implement digital communication and social media strategies to increase engagement, visibility, and outreach.
Oversee website management, ensuring timely updates of news, resources, publications, events, and project achievements.
Monitor digital performance metrics and produce regular analytics reports.
Build and maintain productive relationships with journalists, media houses, editors, and communication networks.
Coordinate press releases, media briefings, interviews, opinion articles, and public statements.
Support crisis communication and reputation management when required.
6. Advocacy and Public Awareness
Lead communication strategies supporting advocacy and policy engagement initiatives.
Develop and implement public awareness campaigns related to mental health, psychosocial wellbeing, disability inclusion, human rights, suicide prevention, and social inclusion.
Coordinate communication activities around national and international observance days and advocacy events.
Produce advocacy materials and campaign content targeting policymakers, media, communities, and development stakeholders.
Support organizational representation at conferences, workshops, forums, and public events.
7. Capacity Building and Technical Support
Design and implement organizational capacity-building initiatives on communication and visibility.
Provide orientation and training to project teams on: Communication and visibility requirements, Branding guidelines, Ethical storytelling, Case story development, Success story writing, Photography and videography, social media engagement, Media interaction and Donor visibility requirements.
Develop communication toolkits, manuals, templates, and standard operating procedures.
Mentor and support staff in producing quality communication and documentation materials.
Review and provide technical feedback on communication outputs developed by projects and departments.
8. Safeguarding and Ethical Communication
Ensure all communication products comply with safeguarding policies and ethical standards.
Promote informed consent, confidentiality, dignity, and respect in all communication materials.
Ensure accurate and respectful representation of persons with psychosocial disabilities and individuals with lived experiences.
Uphold organizational values and human rights principles in all communication activities.
B. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization (30%)
1. Resource Mobilization Strategy
Lead the development and implementation of KOSHISH’s fundraising and resource mobilization strategy.
Identify and pursue funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, embassies, corporate partners, philanthropic organizations, and international agencies.
Support diversification of funding sources to strengthen organizational sustainability.
Maintain a donor intelligence and opportunity tracking system.
2. Proposal Development and Donor Engagement
Lead and coordinate the preparation of concept notes, grant proposals, expressions of interest, and partnership applications.
Facilitate proposal development processes involving Program, Finance, MEAL, and Leadership teams.
Ensure high-quality, evidence-based, and competitive funding proposals.
Develop donor communication materials, organizational profiles, capability statements, and partnership packages.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective donors and partners.
3. Fundraising Communications and Campaigns
Develop communication products that support fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
Design fundraising campaigns, donor appeals, sponsorship packages, and impact communication materials.
Coordinate donor visibility and stewardship activities.
Support digital fundraising and public fundraising initiatives where appropriate.
4. Partnership Development and Networking
Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations.
Represent KOSHISH in donor meetings, networking forums, conferences, and partnership-building events.
Facilitate relationship-building with government agencies, development partners, foundations, and private sector stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Master’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Development Studies or a related discipline.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Demonstrated experience in strategic communication, branding, media engagement, advocacy, and organizational visibility.
Proven experience in fundraising, proposal development, donor engagement, and partnership building.
Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, donor-funded projects, or development organizations.
Experience managing teams, consultants, and external service providers.
