Job Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the company's financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations. This role involves handling complex accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, overseeing general ledger functions, and supporting budgeting and auditing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings (VAT, TDS, income tax) and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Maintain and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and improve financial accuracy.
  • Manage fixed assets register, depreciation schedules, and related accounting treatments.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff and review their work to ensure accuracy.
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, auditors, and government bodies for financial matters.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements in financial systems and reporting.
Job Specification

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus).
  • Professional certifications such as CA, ACCA, CPA, or similar are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Prior experience in a senior or supervisory accounting position is desirable.
  • Experience with tax compliance, financial reporting, and audits is essential.
  • Industry-specific experience (e.g., manufacturing, hospitality, trading) is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations (e.g., VAT, TDS, income tax).
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or ERP systems.
  • Full-time office-based role (occasional field visits/audits if required).
  • May require extended hours during financial closings, audits, or reporting periods.
  • Fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and good knowledge of other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.
