Job Overview:
The Workshop Eatery is seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to lead our pastry section with creativity, precision, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of baking techniques, be passionate about dessert presentation, and contribute to a high-performing and collaborative kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a wide variety of baked goods and desserts including doughnuts, bagels, cakes, tarts, breads, mousses, and more.
- Develop creative and seasonal dessert menus aligned with the restaurant’s brand and customer preferences.
- Ensure all pastries and desserts meet high-quality standards in taste, appearance, and consistency.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Oversee inventory management for baking supplies and coordinate with the procurement team for timely restocking.
- Plan, organize, and execute daily prep work to ensure smooth operation of the pastry section.
- Work closely with the head chef and other kitchen staff to ensure cohesive menu offerings.
- Train and supervise junior pastry staff as needed.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, collaboration, and high morale.
Job Specification
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or certification in baking and pastry arts.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar baking role.
- Proficiency in both traditional and contemporary baking techniques.
- Strong creative vision for dessert presentation and innovation.
- Good time management and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to work early mornings and flexible shifts when required.
