Internship Details

  • Type: Paid Internship
  • Duration: 4–6 months (flexible, based on availability and performance)
  • Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

Role Overview

As a Product Design Intern, you will support the design team across the product lifecycle. You will help translate problems into user-centered flows and visual designs, contribute to design systems, and learn how to collaborate in a fast-moving product team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support user research activities (e.g., organizing insights, note-taking, synthesis)
  • Help define user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI designs in Figma
  • Create and iterate on prototypes to communicate ideas and validate concepts
  • Collaborate with engineers and product partners to ensure designs are feasible and implemented with quality
  • Help maintain and improve our design system and component library (guidelines, patterns, UI consistency)
  • Participate in design critiques, stand-ups, and product discussions

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information & Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent learning experience)
  • A portfolio (class projects or personal projects are fine) that shows your design thinking and visual/interaction skills
  • Familiarity with design tools like Figma (components, auto layout, basic prototyping)
  • Basic understanding of user-centered design principles (research, information architecture, accessibility)
  • Strong willingness to learn, take feedback, and iterate quickly
  • Clear communication and a collaborative mindset
  • Curiosity about how emerging technologies (including AI) influence user experience and interface patterns.
  • Interest in design systems, typography, and visual consistency

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Exposure to product analytics and discovery methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing)
  • Understanding of basic front-end constraints (responsive design, design handoff)

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience building real-world product experiences
  • Mentorship and feedback from experienced designers and cross-functional partners
  • Exposure to industry-standard tools, workflows, and best practices
  • A supportive environment to grow your craft and confidence
  • Potential opportunity for full-time employment based on performance and business needs

What You'll Experience As An Intern

  • Hands-On Learning: You'll work on real features and product challenges, gaining practical experience while learning from experienced designers.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Receive regular feedback and guidance to develop your design skills and build confidence in a supportive environment.
  • Meaningful Contribution: Your work will directly impact products used by real customers making important life decisions.

This Internship May Not Be Right For You If

  • You're looking for a passive learning experience. This internship requires active participation, initiative, and a willingness to take on challenging problems.
  • You prefer highly structured, predictable tasks. As part of a fast-moving product team, priorities can shift, and you'll need to be comfortable adapting and learning on the go.
  • You're primarily interested in visual design only. Product design at reAlpha requires understanding user needs, business context, and technical constraints—not just creating beautiful interfaces.

reAlpha is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. reAlpha is committed to sponsoring work visas for exceptional employees and following all immigration laws.
