  • Responsible for the overall management of the project including technical, administrative, financial, operational and logistical management; 
  • Provide overall project vision and leadership, manage overall project design and delivery; 
  • Ensure synergy across technical components of the projects; ensure good team planning and coordination, deployment of resources and intra-team communication in support of project objectives; 
  • Oversee preparation and delivering high quality reports to USAID, including quarterly and annual reports, annual work plans, technical and financial reports; 
  • Ensure all contractual deliverables and reporting requirements are met and in compliance with contractual requirements and U.S. federal regulations; 
  • Foster and maintain effective, professional relations with government counterparts, local organizations, donors and other stakeholders for successful implementation; 
  • Collaborate and share knowledge with other conservation organizations and initiatives; 
  • Administer the project’s financial oversight and procedures, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and USAID regulations; 
  • Diplomatically supervise staff and coordinate programs with partners from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences; 
  • Liaise with USAID and RTI home office on technical and financial implementation of and reporting on programming; 
  • Manage any subcontracts and grants with local partners, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables; 
  • Oversee performance monitoring and evaluation to ensure all project targets are met or exceeded, making recommendations for improvement in program implementation. 
  • Master’s degree in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management, natural resources management, environmental science or related field and 12 years of progressively responsible experience and expertise in the implementation of large and complex projects relating to natural resources management and/or biodiversity conservation; or Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience in a related technical area including conservation, forestry, aquatic resources management or use, climate change, ecosystem management, law enforcement, and wildlife trafficking and crime; 
  • Eight years proven leadership of mid-to large-sized international donor programs ($25-50 million) with strong skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting. USAID experience strongly preferred; 
  • Five years’ substantive experience working with counterparts at various levels of government, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders in natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, and/or enforcement of conservation regulations; 
  • Demonstrated skills in building, mobilizing, and leading multidisciplinary teams; 
  • Demonstrated skills and proven ability to develop, articulate and implement a strategic vision for the project; 
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, and with multiple concurrent demands; 
  • Proven ability to manage projects with satellite or remote offices and team members; 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • Ability to travel and work in rural areas and difficult terrain/conditions at times; 
  • Proficiency in English is required; and 
  • Asia experience preferred, especially Nepal.
