Job Description
  • Food Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of bakery ingredients, such as doughs, batters, fillings, icings, and toppings, following standardized recipes and techniques.
  • Baking and Oven Operation: Monitoring baking equipment, adjusting temperatures, and ensuring proper baking times for a variety of bakery items like bread, pastries, cakes, and desserts.
  • Station Management: Organizing and maintaining the bakery section, including stock levels, ingredient availability, and cleanliness of workstations and equipment.
  • Quality Control: Conducting regular quality checks on baked goods to ensure they meet established standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
  • Menu Development: Collaborating with the bakery team and the Chef de Cuisine to develop and test new bakery recipes, suggesting improvements, and contributing to menu planning.
  • Supervision and Training: Assisting in training and supervising junior bakery staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and accurate production.
  • Inventory and Stock Control: Monitoring and managing stock levels of bakery ingredients, communicating with the Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Menu Execution: Ensuring timely preparation and plating of bakery items according to customer orders or as per the menu requirements.
  • Safety and Hygiene: Adhering to proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices in the bakery section, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other kitchen sections and culinary staff to coordinate menu items and maintain a smooth workflow.
Job Specification
  • Previous experience in a professional bakery or culinary setting, with a focus on bakery production.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and bakery equipment.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations in a bakery environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet production demands.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
