Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of the automobile dealership, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining internal controls, supervising junior accounting staff, and coordinating with auditors and external stakeholders.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, including vehicle inventory, parts, service, and warranty receivables.
- Ensure accurate recording of all dealership transactions including vehicle sales, service revenue, and expenses.
Tax and Compliance
- Prepare and file VAT, income tax, and other statutory returns.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and accounting standards.
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and government bodies as required.
Cost and Budget Management
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor departmental expenses against budgets and highlight variances.
Team Leadership and Internal Controls
- Supervise junior accountants and accounts clerks.
- Implement and maintain robust internal control systems.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance and detect fraud or inefficiencies.
Job Specification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (mandatory)
- Professional certification (preferred)
- Around 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the automotive industry or a similar retail/trade business
- Experience of working with LCs (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Tally, Saral,etc)
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
