SOS Children’s Villages Nepal as a non-governmental social development organization supports children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief. We are now looking for interested and qualified individuals for the various positions at Jorpati and Dhangadhi programme locations.

Job Position:

1. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (1) : SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is responsible to support the development programmes of SOS CV Nepal within the programme location. S/he takes a leading role in managing the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems and tracking monitoring indicators. S/he supports the implementation of self-evaluations for working with target groups under the supervision of Location Leader.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Location Leader in developing Results Framework, needs assessment, baseline study and implementation of monitoring and evaluation system.
  • Writes concept note with input from stakeholders, shares current baselines and supports in setting realistic targets.
  • Responsible for preparation and review of progress reports.
  • Supports the Location Leader to organize Review and Planning Meetings by engaging stakeholders in learning & sharing process, promote, and explore ways to use results to improve quality of programs.
  • Manages research activities and ensures outcomes and lessons learned are integrated into the project and shared with relevant stakeholders
  • Regularly reviews & analyzes Program Data Base (PDB) to improve data quality
  • Supports external evaluators & provides monitoring data for Impact Assessment study and supports stakeholders in the implementation of recommendations.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Public Health, Development Studies, or related subjects with at least one year of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge and work experience in the development of Result Framework, reviewing and analysing the data to improve the data quality, conducting Need Assessment of projects, writing project concept notes and preparing periodic progress reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
  • Experience of working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • (Preference will be given to candidates having two – wheeler license).

2. Counselor (1): SOS Children’s Village Dhangadhi

The Counselor will be responsible for supporting in the social, moral, emotional and intellectual development of children and young people and guiding them by assessing the special educational requirements of an individual child and youth. S/he should have good understanding of professional counseling approaches and strong skills on organizing and facilitating training/workshops. S/he should manage documents, maintain the database, and prepare the activity for children and young people, and reporting the events.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance in overall development of young people this includes support young people through proper counseling and helps them to overcome their weaknesses and resolves the problems with their peer group and others.
  • Assesses the special educational requirement of individual youth and making arrangements for support this includes maintains regular contact with teachers to follow-up the academic progress and timely monitoring of the youth’s academic performance.
  • Organizes classes on enhancing self-esteem, on awareness in mental health through different extra curriculum activities like debate, theater and other activities.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and three years’ relevant work experience or, Master’s Degree in Psychology or Master’s Degree in any discipline with one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and one-year relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English & Nepali and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
  • Experience of working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • (Preference will be given to candidates having two – wheeler license).

The Counselor will be responsible for supporting in the social, moral, emotional and intellectual development of children and young people and guiding them by assessing the special educational requirements of an individual child and youth. S/he should have good understanding of professional counseling approaches and strong skills on organizing and facilitating training/workshops. S/he should manage documents, maintain the database, and prepare the activity for children and young people, and reporting the events.
