Pravasi Nepali Coordination Committee (PNCC) announces vacancies for Project Coordinator/Program Officer (Case Management)

Pravasi Nepali Coordination Committee (PNCC) is one of the leading organizations in Nepal promoting rights and welfare of migrant workers for past ten years. PNCC is preparing for the implementation of the assistance and para legal support to Nepalese migrants in difficult situations in destination countries under the "Safer Migration Project (SaMi), phase III". SaMi is a bilateral initiative of the Governments of Nepal (GoN) and Switzerland. SaMi phase III is implemented by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS) and local governments with the technical assistance of Helvetas Nepal. 

PNCC invites applications from qualified and experience Nepali individuals for below mentioned positions.

1. Position: Project Coordinator – 1 (Kathmandu based)

Major Responsibilities:

  • Take lead role in effective implementation of the project activities. 
  • Prepare the work plan for the effective implementation of the project and share with project team, project partner and the management of PNCC.  
  • Coordinate with internal and external relevant stakeholders including donor for the effective implementation of the project activities. 
  • Collect information and prepare periodic project progress reports to be submitted to donor/s and different stakeholders as required.
  • Manage and supervise all staff under the project in the central office Kathmandu and Outreach staffs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia 
  • Coordinate with national and district partners of SaMi for necessary follow-up, coordination and facilitation of cases. 
  • Coordinate and manage good and interpersonal relationship with relevant government agencies, non-governmental organizations and individuals for the effective implementation of the project.   
  • Coordinate and ensure support to the Nepalese migrant workers facing difficulties in destination countries as referred by different sources.
  • Regular monitoring of the staff member under the project in terms of their work progress, reporting and mobility etc.
  • Monitor the progress of the project activities based on the work plans and action plans.
  • Coordinate with the management team/ executive committee of the organization for administrative and financial matters.

Required Competencies:

  • Minimum education qualification of Master's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or other related discipline with 3 years of experience in similar.
  • Understanding of the issues on foreign employment and labour migration is highly preferred.
  • Well acquainted with the legal and policy frameworks governing labour migration in Nepal and major destination countries 
  • Understanding of the rescue and support process of migrant workers in destination countries. 
  • Knowledge on activities and ways of functioning of diplomatic missions, in relation to support to migrant workers, in destination countries.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and fluency in Nepali and English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package - Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Knowledge of photo/video editing software will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with the diplomat’s/mission representative in terms of project activities and with concerned government officials on the issues.
  • Skill of managing team members from diverse personal backgrounds 
  • Analytical, dynamic, smart, motivated, positive and pro-active 

Service Duration for the Position: 11.5 months with possibility of extension

2. Position: Program Officer (Case Management) - 1 (Kathmandu Based)     

Major responsibilities;

  • Responsible for rescue and paralegal services to the distressed migrant workers as received by PNCC.
  • Responsible for handling all the cases of distressed Nepali migrant workers and their families referred by MRCsSaMi project districts and other sources.  
  • Support victimized migrant workers and members of their families in collecting evidence. 
  • Support to families of destitute Nepali migrant workers to provide them compensation and benefits guaranteed by the existing law of Nepal and destination countries. 
  • Prepare a database of all the cases referred by MRCs and maintain a proper case file, up-to-date Excel Sheet, case studies of the supported case, and registration of all the cases in the online case management system.
  • Provide regular updates to MRCs, migrant workers, and members of their families. 
  • Responsible for data entry and updating the cases in the online database of SaMi project. 
  • Provide working progress reports to the supervisor/management of PNCC regularly.
  • Assist project coordinator and support to effective implementation of the project.
