Job Description

Biomedical Engineer-Mid Level

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and manage biomedical equipment systems for hospitals, clinics, and healthcare institutions

  • Oversee installation, testing, calibration, and commissioning of medical devices and systems

  • Ensure biomedical equipment meets national and international standards (IEC, WHO, ISO, etc.)

  • Conduct technical evaluation of biomedical components and assist in procurement specifications

  • Collaborate with hospital planners, architects, MEP engineers, and contractors for layout integration of biomedical zones

  • Supervise installation layouts and utility interface planning (electrical, water, ventilation) for sensitive medical equipment

  • Perform quality assurance checks, safety audits, and risk assessments of medical devices and critical systems

  • Troubleshoot system errors and recommend performance improvements or corrective actions

  • Prepare detailed technical reports, compliance documentation, and operation & maintenance manuals

  • Participate in client and consultant meetings to advise on suitable technology and vendor selection

  • Support capacity building, training of hospital staff on equipment handling and maintenance protocols

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (Master’s preferred)

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in biomedical design, equipment planning, or maintenance

  • Familiarity with medical device standards (IEC, BIS, ISO 13485, etc.) and local healthcare regulations

  • Experience with hospital infrastructure projects, layout planning, and equipment interfacing

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and other design or data tools

  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical equipment systems

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interdisciplinary coordination skills

  • NEC registration or relevant professional license/certification preferred
