Job Description
The Proofreader / Editor will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and refining written content to ensure grammatical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to publishing standards. The role plays a critical part in maintaining the credibility and quality of all publication materials.
Key Responsibilities
Proofreading & Editing
- Review manuscripts, articles, and publications for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors
- Ensure consistency in tone, style, and formatting across all content
- Edit content for clarity, readability, and coherence without altering the original meaning
Content Quality Assurance
- Verify facts, dates, names, and references where necessary
- Ensure all content aligns with publication standards and guidelines
- Maintain high editorial standards and attention to detail
Coordination & Workflow
- Work closely with writers, designers, and the editorial team
- Provide constructive feedback to authors and contributors
- Meet deadlines and manage multiple editing assignments efficiently
Style & Compliance
- Apply appropriate style guides (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago, or in-house style)
- Ensure proper formatting and layout consistency before publication
Job Specification
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in proofreading, editing, or content review (preferably in publication/media industry)
- Freshers with excellent command of English may also be considered
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional command of written English (grammar, vocabulary, and style)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
