Position: Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET)

Job Description

Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on a variety of biomedical equipment, such as infusion pumps, ventilators, patient monitors, defibrillators, imaging equipment, and more.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning devices, ensuring they are restored to operational standards.
• Keep detailed service records for each piece of equipment, including work performed, test results, and parts replaced.

Testing & Calibration:

• Conduct performance testing and calibration of biomedical equipment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Use specialized test equipment and software to analyze device performance.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure that all equipment complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards like those set by the Joint Commission, FDA, and AAMI.
• Participate in safety checks and maintain logs for regulatory compliance.

Installation & Setup:

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and setup of new medical devices.
• Perform initial testing to verify functionality and safety before clinical use.

Technical Support & User Training:

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to medical staff regarding equipment usage and malfunctions.
• Train healthcare personnel on the proper and safe use of equipment to minimize user errors and increase efficiency.

Inventory & Documentation:

• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of biomedical equipment, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
• Document all service activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Emerging Technology & Continuing Education:

• Stay updated with the latest trends in biomedical technology and advancements.
• Participate in continuing education programs, attend relevant workshops, and pursue certifications as required.

Job Specification
