Job Description

The Director of Quality Control is a senior leadership role responsible to oversee the management of quality control processes within the organization. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet the highest quality standards and align with market trends and customer needs. S/he will lead a team dedicated to product development, quality control, and process improvements to drive innovation and maintain industry compliance.

Roles and Responsibilities

Quality Control:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive QC policies, SOPs, and protocols across all production or service lines.
  • Ensure products/services consistently meet internal and external quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Lead the QC team in performing routine and special inspections, sampling, testing, and verification of materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Establish key quality metrics and KPIs to monitor performance, detect trends, and proactively address issues.

Supplier & Vendor Quality Management

  • Develop and enforce supplier qualification and evaluation processes.
  • Conduct vendor audits and assessments to ensure incoming materials/components meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supplier management teams to address supplier-related quality issues.

Process Improvement & Risk Management

  • Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects, errors, and rework.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of quality failures and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and supply chain teams to optimize processes, improve product quality, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement risk management and mitigation strategies to prevent potential quality issues.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and manage the teams, providing direction, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the teams.
  • Ensure staff are well trained in quality management systems.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work with production teams to implement quality control measures and improve product consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Regulatory team for quality audits, inspections, and certifications (ISO, HACCP, Halal, GMP, BRCGS).
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and customer service teams to integrate customer feedback into product development and quality assurance efforts.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Lead initiatives to minimize defects, enhance product performance, and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor product performance and market reception to inform future development strategies.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on product development progress, quality control metrics, and compliance status to senior management.
  • Analyze data on product quality, production efficiency, and customer feedback to drive improvements.
Job Specification
  • Master's in food technology, chemistry, biotechnology, or related fields.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in quality, regulatory, and/or R&D leadership roles in FMCG, food processing, or related industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, HACCP, Halal, GMP, food safety laws, and global certification requirements.
  • Strong track record in new product development and commercialization.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a focus on quality and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to meeting high standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant software tools for product development and quality management.
